ACD in a large market. Really depends on the work you put forth.
This is very helpful! Appreciate your input.
Sounds like you have a lot of skills and experience.
The reality may be that smaller market will not translate to a lateral or promotional move. Larger markets traditionally want large market experience.
This is not to say that it cannot result in your favor. But it will depend on the clientele in your book and the nature of the work.
If you have local or lackluster clients but solid work they may have you come in under a lesser title.
Given that you have worked 6 years and are a Creative Director I would imagine you will come in a level or two lower at a big agency.
Don’t be discouraged though. You may be truly amazing. Just trying to prepare you for my experiences coming from a medium market into a large market.
Thank you for your detailed perspective and positive reinforcement! I absolutely understand that there might be some give and take when it comes to switching markets. The opportunity to work on bigger clients and learn from new people around sounds very much worth it though.
Give that you’re a jack of all trades you could be a great asset to a mid/large sized agency who is learning how to service clients who demand more nimble multi faceted teams. Lines are blurring in some of these models which demand creators/makers. ACD sounds right.
Thank you for your response and point of view!

What is it about your current place that is driving you to consider a change?
From my past experiences I’ve seen the most growth when I have stepped out of my comfort zone. So I’m excited to try a new city, new agency, new learnings, new challenges, and so on. Plus I have evidence of switching agencies / markets playing a big role in career growth. What do you think?
I’m also anxious about not having a deep specialization and interested to see how my broad array of skills can translate into a different workplace. I would really appreciate a fresh perspective and any advice.
