(Audit practice) Not sure why RsM say big 4 new associate at MCOL start at 65ish. I’m in M-HCOL and it’s not the case in my area. In my knowledge only new hire in NY or other HCOL will start at 65.

I hit 65k+ my 2nd year but in advisory MCOL. Audit is more around 56-62k in the first year or so. Definitely not 65k.
Salary is def on the lower side. Big4 new associate at MCOLs start at 65ish at the moment. You’d be making the same thing as someone fresh out of school.
Consider looking at Robert Half’s salary guide to see what numbers look like in your area.
K1 - As someone who actually works at PwC, can confirm that new hires were cut from 55.5 to 49.5 this year.

A senior accountant role in MCOL is giving you 60-65k...? That's criminal. Even with 1 year you should really be getting 70k+
Yeah in my market (HCOL) I’ve seen many people get 100-120k for senior accountant Jobs after 3-4 years in big four
Promotions and salary increases are typically slower in corporations than public accounting. You are more likely to be pigeon-holed and stifled when coming in at lower levels of experience. Few corporations are committed to successful employee development programs. The variety of experience that is typical in public accounting isn’t routinely available in a corporate environment.
However you may found the great benefits and potentially better job security may outweigh getting more varied experience for a higher level and starting salary in a few years.

Typically when you leave PA for industry you will get at least a 20% raise.

Yeah I can see that at SM level but not associate and senior level
If it’s industry I’d take it in a heartbeat
