I worked with this superstar consultant (who happened to be black). Once project ended I moved to another very similar project where one more consultant was needed. I recommended the superstar consultant obviously because he would have killed it in that role. Middle aged white manager talked to him and said he wasn’t a good fit. Literally brought on another white consultant who just joined the firm instead. I’m fuming.
I’m exhausted. Reached out to Former male colleague that I thought was a good/close platonic friend. I am currently engaged and deliriously happy. He agreed to reach out to the hiring manager
What is the most straightforward exit path from MBB at the EM/PL level to make $500k all in in a low COL city working 50 hours a week, by age 45 (assuming the manager is 30 years old)?
Had a hiring manager tell me today he thinks most consultants he meets are arrogant and egotistical and lack humility. He said he is hesitant to hire someone from the consulting culture. Thoughts?
Exiting to Product manager role in Tech after ~6-8 months of interviews, long nights of prep! Thanks to all Fish for interview tips. 2020, here I come!
Is KPMG’s reputation really as bad as everybody makes it seem for strategy ? Is this going to make exit opportunities harder because if a hiring manager is ex-MBB they’re going to pick other MBBers?
Raise was rejected after a 6mth delayed review, manager says I didn't hit 1 of 10 KPIs despite me having measurable proof that I did. Says I'm above + beyond in others. Is it time for an exit plan?
Is it mandatory to go the consulting route post MBA? Why not just go straight to industry and plan to get promoted? Instead of planning on 2 yrs as senior associate and 1 yr as manager before exit.
Is any position at Juul worth it right now? Been looking at the Data and Insights Manager role but not sure
A couple months ago I got passed over for an internal role, afterwards my manager said she’ll develop a plan for me to get promoted on our current team and we’ll revisit during mid-years. I just got an external offer that I want, would it look bad to accept after interviewing internally then making a promotion plan? I don’t want to burn bridges.
I have seen quite a few managers (1st or 2nd year) moving into an industry role as a senior, not manager. Is this common? I thought it’s easy to get a manager title in industry coming out of big 4
Would you leave at the start of your second year as manager at b4/ACN for a generalist associate position at mck?
If someone puts IQ on a resume, is there any scenario where they end up being great consultant? Generally curious cause that was a deal breaker for me, wondering if I made a mistake as hiring manager
Would you take a Director role reporting to the CEO of small publicly traded company or Product Manager role at FAANG. Assuming pay and all other variables are the same.
I'm 35, have 2 kids and at least 2 years away from Senior Manager. No debt. Really want to pursue an MBA. I want to afford myself the opportunity to move up in banking to a D/MD role. Is it worth it??
Should I talk to my manager before reaching out to an internal hiring manager? I want to learn about the role and see if I want to even pursue, I don’t want to ask my manager prematurely. But dont...
Back in November, my manager filed a written warning with HR about my performance. I disputed it with HR and could negate most it with documentation, but HR said it had to stay. That manager soon left the firm, but my new manager wouldn’t drop it either. I do my job every day and there haven’t been any issues in months. I can’t move to a new role in the firm because hiring managers can see this written warning. What should I do?
Partners - how are we doing? As a business, we can’t see the numbers - so good to understand if we are okay? I really wish there was like a graph or something that everyone could see
I’m looking to create a virtual war room for a large scale broadcast campaign that our creative team is starting to develop concepts for, but everything I’ve been looking into (google docs, Dropbox, Miro) just doesn’t quite measure up to the physical space we’re used to using in our office. Anyone have luck working with a digital platform that they’d recommend?
How do you get recruiters to give you a salary band for a job? Every time I ask they dance and say, “oh money won’t be an issue.” and ask me for a number first.
Any one trying to play smash at work while our ADs bust their ass trying to push out everything before Christmas?
I’ve always wanted a job (or so I thought) where I got consistent feedback that was more than “you’re doing a great job” or “keep doing what you’re doing”. Now that I’m actually getting the constructive feedback I hoped for I find myself becoming less motivated when I hear it and feeling overwhelmed when I try to figure out how I can do better. Advice?
Political contributions. DEL 1.9M (30% to D, 70% to R); EY PAC 1.8M (37% to D, 63% to R); PWC PAC 1.5M (34% to D, 66% to R); KPMG $1.1M (35% to D, 65% to R); BAH $0.2M (76% to D, 19% to R);
So true 😆
I have been in PA calls all day, both C & M. There is a lot of tough discussions, but I would not call it a “Blood Bath”. Most, if not all, CCs were well prepared and advocated for their counselees. Keep your head up.
Has anyone tried the idea of swapping creative teams with another company’s in-house team for a one-off project? Thinking it would be nice to give the creative teams a change of pace by working a different brand.
Oh. I had 10% participation this week ☹️ Also, I’m starting to feel bad about how much I’m not missing the classroom. I’m really liking this, tbh. Anyone else?
