Asking on behalf of a friend. For MBB, the Big 4, and other top tier consulting firms - which MBA schools enable you to be a MBA hire? Just the T10? UT-Austin is what I’m curious about specifically. For example, I have an MBA from a small private school and I know the big firms wouldn’t hire me at the MBA pay so want to learn where the line gets drawn to give my friend advice. TIA!

If you were at an MBA, would you rather take an MBB consulting offer or a PM offer at a non-FAANG company? Consulting offers more location flexibility (200K in Atlanta is nice), but Product seems like an attractive career path.

What’s the TC at each MBB for new MBA hires? BCG base is 190, Bain and McK are 192. What do the bonus percentages look like, plus sign on and relocation?

I messed up my interview with Millennium LLP for an entry level role and I feel nothing but dread right now. I believe it was my only opportunity at obtaining a high salary / profile job compared to my other options that only pay half as much. How can I accept the fact that I might not be able to start out as successful as I wanted to be? I believe it’s extremely difficult to jump between layers (E.G. Big 4 to MBB) later on in my career.

For those target schools esp. M7 schools, I assume MBB get the most applications for summer internships in Nov. I am genuinely curious what they look for because by the time you apply, you are not even through 1st semester at school. Does this mean, you get screened by your undergrad/work experience?

Also, do we know roughly how many they interview on campus? If 800 out of 1000 HBS 1st yr students apply, how many get to the interview round?

I exited consulting to Corporate Strategy one year ago. 13 years of experience, MBB + boutique background, financial services. Current total comp $400k. I studied engineering but never had a technical role. I can move internally to non-technical product management with my current firm (large bank), lateral move no salary change. Would it open the door for a higher salary by switching firms? An acquaintance told me that he makes $700k as a PM director at Citi, is that a reference level?

Is it at all possible to go from KPMG strategy to MBB? Feel like MBB really suits my skill set, attitude and ambition… but unsure if KPMG has the strategy creds to make the jump.

Open to those firms but also know there are more out there. I’m also open to the tech industry but not sure breaking in there is possible with only about 2 year experience. People keep telling me that the fact that I am applying for junior positions at 27 is not a problem because everyone has a different time in life, but I cannot help to feel uncomfortable when someone asks me how old I am. A person just referred me to a tier2 and asked me, they didn’t mind at all but I really wanted to lie because it’s almost impossible to find candidates who took extra time to graduate. I did get an internship in MBB though, which improves my resume, but I still feel bad :(

Is it perfectly reasonable for someone who currently works as an Associate Consultant to apply for a Business Analyst position at MBB?

Can you invest in ETFs as part of MBB? It’s written that trading securities from individual clients isn’t allowed, which makes sense, but I assume ETFs are exempt. Thanks!

How long does it take to be promoted at MBB?

What I really mean is, let’s assume that you’ve worked hard and your seniors are happy with your performance etc.
You had your performance review and were told that you’re being promoted.
How long does it actually take the paperwork to be finalized after that meeting?
How long does it take to see the actual new salary in the bank account?

Coming out of MBB, any ideas as to what level product manager I would be able to get coming into FAANG?
