With current salary around 120k, should I pause my career to do a full time MBA or do something part time like the Booth Evening and Weekend program. goal is defense/national security consulting at MBB. It would put a lot of financial strain on my family for me to quit working and go to school full time but at the same time I worry that part time will drastically reduce my chances for the career I really want.

Rejected from MBB last year, so went with a boutique LS firm, but M said I could go straight to 2nd round if I applied again. Keen to take it up as I want a broader scope of projects in healthcare - but just wondering when is best to do this (beyond 12M period)? What is the optimal period of time at a firm before leaving? @mckinsey

I am very happy at my current position as a Data Engineer at Amazon. I interviewed at BCG Gamma(because, why not?). I was wondering how is the work compared to Big Tech Companies vs MBB(McKinsey , Bain, BCG) for Data Engineering. Will it be similar to any service based organisation as it is consulting? Is it worth taking the jump?

HBS admit - 65-70% aid (tuition only) or MBB sponsorship (full tuition and rent). What would you pick? Long term goals don’t involve being at MBB and want to try getting into VC. Would you accept a title loss to move from T2 to MBB? Really good impression from practice and partners, however would bump from Manager to Senior Consultant level.

Up for promo ~12 months post joining, with initial hit in comp being mitigated with signing bonus. Would be a bump as soon as promo goes through.

However would mean ~1yoe seniority loss (although quite early in career)

I have 3.5 yrs experience in IT project management, and I am interested in consulting. Based on compensation rates, I am open to entry-level (associate) positions at MBB firms. Is it a better idea to apply to entry-level positions now, apply as an EH to a Big4, or wait a few months to have the strongest application? I am looking at generalist consulting, not tech/IT specific.

What do you learn in PE that you don’t at MBB? Do consultants who make the switch feel like it was a good idea to try PE out for two years?

Hello, I am 28F with 5 years experience at a Big4 in advisory (Amsterdam) and I am currently preparing for MBB interviews.
I think I practiced around 30/40 cases over the past weeks, however I still feel that I am not mastering my casing skills. I don’t feel I am improving anymore in comparison to the beginning of my prep - so I really question whether I am cut for the job/ smart enough, etc. I feel the whole case assessment is so random and one can ALWAYS fuc* up. Any tips? Should I give up?

I'm looking at applying to MBB (Preferably BCG) for a summer internship this summer. I'm a first-gen Oxbridge student, and while I have little experience in consulting along the lines of MBB, I did work in the city last summer as an sustainability consultant.

I'm curious how important it is to have a referral etc and what you'd recommend for applications opening in jan. Any advice is super appreciated I don't have any connections to the industry but it's something im interested in. 

Does it make sense to jump from tier 2 consultant to MBB associate consultant?
