Ok teladoc and other stay at home stocks - the despondency is getting out of hand. These are still disruptive businesses. Peloton, zoom, roku, amwell - personal opinion is these companies will be just fine. But the red is frustrating and it could be years now.

Also not sure that this won’t be the fate of high fliers in 2021…what do people think?

Have you ever had an employer find out you were leaving before you gave in resignation or they were contacted from a background check? If so how did they find out? Also when you know you are leaving do you start to slack off?

Should I stop using exclamation points in emails/slack messages? I only ever use them if and when I say something like "Thanks for your time!"

Idk why but how that I work with more senior people now and I feel weird and type "Thank you for your time." instead

Any of your firms do virtual gifts or corporate appreciation for your teams? We want to do something for our hard working team that is spread out over the nation but not make it an event where we’re stuck doing over zoom. Ideally something like wine delivery just to show appreciation

Very awkward Zoom meeting with a broker. Thanked him at the end and tried many subtle ways of ending the call (eg let you know if I need anything else). He just kept responding with “yeah no problem. Happy to help” not helping me naturally end the call at all. After a long awkward pause, I just said “ok well have a nice day bye” and he LAUGHED and said “…bye?” I swear I’m not the awkward one!!! Anyone else?!

I'm a team lead and I'm the only one who uses my camera during Zoom calls. Should I start mandating camera usage to promote communication?

Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.

Applied for a senior manager role at a big tech company a few weeks ago and a few days later they emailed me and let me know I was selected to move forward. Then today I got a list of three interview slots for this week /zoom details with different Senior Directors… haven’t talked to anyone from recruiting or TA… Not even a phone screen lol is this typical??

Thinking of getting a camera for zoom calls because I’m tired of shifting over to my laptop and then looking over at my monitor. But I don’t want to look slick or anything.. just the usual back lit soft glow of zoom and what are you all doing so you can multitask?

Working in my office used to be my primary source of work outfit inspiration but since working remote staying aware of what styles are in is nearly impossible. I live in a smallish town, so going out doesn't help fill in that awareness gap. I’m currently interviewing for a community operations specialist role at Stripe. I’ve done the phone screen, written project, peer zoom interview, and now I’ve advanced to a interview panel that’ll last 3.5 hours. Can anyone give me some insight on what to expect? I’m trying to prepare the best I can.

So my client just called me cheap because Big 4 consultants are paid a lot but I live in a piece of shit looking apartment and I'm wearing H&M clothes. I mean... it was built in 1980, still costs $2300 a month in Boston. I got student loans, auto loans, and other stuff to pay for. Is having antique background consider rude? I was using the zoom background until this project since no one uses it.

Is it just me or do people not know when to pause in 1:1 zoom convos? I feel like so many of my calls are monologues when it needs to be a 2 way discussion. This has nothing to do w seniority btw - I notice it with junior and same level colleagues as with more senior folks. I am a woman - notice it with male and female colleagues.
I absolutely hate interrupting people but sometimes I have to.
Thoughts? Advice?

I’ve been fortunate enough that a couple first round Zoom interviews l have turned into second round in person interviews. I just received an email from three firms that want me to go in person next week at different days. 1) How rude is it to ask for a date change (maybe I can put them all on one day? 2) Any tips on managing being out of the office to go interview? I can’t say I’m going to the doctor 3 different evenings. Do I need to cut one interview?

Leadership is looking to limit Slack Channels after an employee started an LBGTQ channel. Has anyone experienced managing these types of "issues" that come up - policing slack to limit groups or clubs communications over slack? Policy surrounding this?

Teams/Zoom optics concerns (limiting client:firm ratio on virtual calls) are limiting the quality of work and underlying relationship/trust building within and across engagement teams. Anyone else find it difficult to wait in the hallway for the second-hand outputs of big meetings?
