This is random, but does anyone know if it causes a problem if I (an attorney) sit in with my dad for jury selection? They want to select via zoom and my dad is not familiar with the app (retired doc in his 70s), so he asked the clerk (I imagine it’s the clerk) if I could sit in with him. Clerk thought it would be okay, but would have to ask judge. Does anyone have familiarity with this? I’m a Corp attorney barred in another state and have done jury duty before, so I imagine no issues…

Since this is an open forum where we can be honest, I've assembled a list of billable litigation tasks that can be done from a playground: Conference calls, File review, Fly on the wall depositions where your camera is off, Zoom cattle call status hearings. Any other suggestions?

Started at Latham this week (West Coast in corporate) but orientation has been postponed to a few weeks later. If you’re at Latham, could you share the ins and outs, and give me a few pointers and tips, tricks of the trade at Latham? One helpful post I found was that after 6pm, skype turns yellow. Any other similar type of tips would be helpful! Also is food free? :D

Does Deloitte use Zoom for all projects?

Currently on a project with them, and my company and the client use Teams which is so much easier.

Then Deloitte pops in with a zoom invite and makes me download a new app. Always trying to be painfully different.

1. I’m a pandemic hire at this new agency and I like it enough, but I feel SO detached from all these humans I’ve never interacted with IRL… like, I just don’t give a flying fuck about these team-building zoom calls. :(

2. My boyfriend and I often just go off cam / mute during the more useless meetings and have sex instead. I secretly hope everyone who is muted/cam off in meetings is getting some action.

i grew up speaking another language at home, but I have so much trouble understanding foreign accents, especially if they’re fast talkers or talking about subjects that I don’t fully understand during zoom/webex calls 🥴 usually blame it on my headphones, speakers, or “you broke up for a second”. How the heck do I get better at this? Just more exposure?

What is a typical time for an offer to be extended? Had one informal coffee, followed by a Zoom interview with four additional attorneys, and then an in-person interview with the practice head and the hiring partner (who was present at all of these). Talks went very well, and conversation ended with how they just needed to talk to the people responsible for next steps(finance). Last meeting was one week ago. Big firm. Not a posted position so I’m the only candidate. Am I am being impatient?

It's my first day at a different big 4 than my tag and the only thing I have to do is an hour zoom call, then the next two days are 3 hr zoom calls. Is this normal? PwC had me doing 9 hrs of training the first day lol

How do you create a setup where you’re not “looking away” from the camera on calls when you use your second monitor primarily for everything?

I’ve gotten feedback saying it looks like I’m not paying attention when conversing on zoom.

If [said company] asks to put you "on hold" for the month of December...but you found a better offer, do you:
-have to follow through with said gig
-communicate this with them if they haven't followed up yet (but added you to new slack channels)

Please don't say this. I know you area nice person and trying to say I was missed and you are glad I'm back. But it translates to 'you been gone forever' and 'your mat leave was too long'.
