Opinions needed: I’m involved in BPN (black professionals network) at work. We try to have events and touch points each quarter, but obviously because of COVID we haven’t been able to do so. I am tryi…
Hi Sales Community - I’m moving from a Mid-Market sales position into Enterprise sales and would love to use this ramping period to enhance my skills. After being in sales for 4+ years I feel decently confident in my sales acumen but I never received any formal training or held an SDR role so I’ve always felt a bit underprepared. I was wondering if anyone has a good sales book recommendation that might be beneficial for me to check out as I head into a more senior role? Thanks!
Any female MM/ENT AEs with SaaS or Fintech experience looking to make a move? Series D company positioned to IPO in 2 years. Would be wild if this works lol
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
I’ve had to scrounge for work all year and now I finally have work but I’m working 15+ hour days. Im really happy I have work but I’m completely missing summer which I need for my mental health. Help.
Riffing off an earlier thread backpacks vs messengers... Decided to ditch the back pack. What are some cool work bags (male) that that are client presentable?
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
So, I’m currently interviewing for new job, and market is not bad, but I’m anxious and I am interviewing for every opportunity that comes my way (director/vp level, tech). Today, September 30 I received an invite for an initial interview for another opportunity. So I applied to this opportunity through networking on August 10 (!). It looks like a red flag for me and I’m thinking thankyounext, but again it’s covid time... Thoughts?
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
Hey all, need some advice! I’m at a small SF shop and loving it. Supportive ECD, likable, non-toxic team, get to pitch ideas even as an intern, like our selection of clients. ECD wants to (cont)
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
Is my agency the only one that continues to invest untold billable hours tweaking and refining our Keynote template well after the point of diminishing returns was crossed?
Should I expect a promotion to essentially be in writing? This entire "promotion" seems to be theoretic over the last 6 months. I was about to quit yesterday and now the position I didn't think I was going to get is starting to come around;timing couldn't be crazier. Should I give them an ultimatum? I just received an insane offer but I want to stay.
Can we start a thread of agencies and locations that have moved to WFH and/or the additional measures your leadership team is taking?
I started a new job as an acd but didn’t leave my job at my old agency where I’m only a senior. They’re in two different cities and I’m remote so I can pull it off, I think. No overlapping clients either. Am I playing with fire here? TLDR: holding down two jobs simultaneously
What should i wear to an interview at Edelman?
Now that networking events are virtual and limited opportunity for face to face meetings - how are new leads being generated besides website traffic. How do you "network" at virtual meetings and presentations?
Aw, that's cute, my firm is in desperate need for skills like mine and they messed up my promotion. BYE BIH
Looking back at my 5 years in consulting, I learned 1 very important lesson; more of a mistake I made because I was naive back then. I chose Delta as my airline. Terrible idea.
I feel utterly hopeless. I’m worried the economy will get worse and I’ll get laid off. I’m at 2 YOE Big4 and was hoping this would be my year to transition out of consulting. For those who went through similar economic crises, do you have any advice to keep going? I feel like my life is destined for mediocrity
Why do you see so many white blonde women in leadership but so few POC men / women in leadership? How did they ascend the ladder so well when people generally consider being POC and being a woman to be equal when it comes to diversity initiatives?
$800 flight, $140 hotel, $108 in per diem - all for a 1 hour meeting we could've done virtually.
When do (or should) you start becoming specialized in something / focus on spikes you want to develop long term? If relevant, I’m 2 years in at mbb
Just got a verbal offer for a strategy position at company I’d love. Plot twist: After 3.5 months of interviews, they offered a base salary of $80k 🥴
What would we see if we walked into your classroom? I love learning about what others do.
PHR or SHRM? I am looking to get more certifications related to HR vs recruiting, but I am unsure on which one is "better" or will help me grow into more of a strategic HR role. Help!!!
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
Looking for advice: 1.5 YOE. Really dislike consulting so far-WLB is terrible, very unnecessarily stressful, and the work is not interesting to me. I’ve been looking for other opportunities but nothing has come to fruition, and i wasn’t that interested in any of the ops anyways. I really don’t know what I want to do, just feel like I need to get out of this job immediately, even willing to take a comp cut just to find something i would actually enjoy waking up to do. Where do I go from here?
People on long term travel engagements (6+ months) how often do you take a remote week? Have been on two projects each over 7 months with no break in between. The non stop travel is killing me.
Wish we didn’t have green card backlog issues. Really demotivated. Wonder what we’re slogging towards. Getting out of bed itself every morning is a battle.
Has anyone made the jump from public accounting to like a federal job? If so, How is the experience, any regrets? I am thinking about exiting big 4 in about a year or so and I am weighing all my options. Any response is appreciated.
Any client-side peeps looking for a mid/sr level writer? Looking to make the jump from the agency world.
Which would you rather have at your agency? 1) Project manager who is tough but sometimes hurts feelings 2) Project manager who everyone likes but is conflict-averse and lax
