My husband and I are hoping to have a child soon, but I don't want to get off track at work. I'd love to know how others have handled the transition to motherhood while competing to make partner.
Do titles in Law firms (practice head, executive committee, managing partner etc) mean more pay for the extra responsibilities, or not necessarily?
Struggling with this whole work life balance thing. Is it possible to have a semblance of a life/hobbies? If so, how? Most of my socializing is honestly in the microcosm of the firm (drink nights etc)
Recieved an offer to work in-house in a big (Canadian) market. Thoughts on starting out a career in law in-house? How difficult is the transition from in-house back to private practice? Any advice?
I hate it when you go out and the waiter asks "sparkling or still" and then before you can get a consensus some asshole just decides for the whole goddamn table. I like my Perrier!
Dealing with baglog What are some strategies for dealing with backlog? While working from home I've had a propensity to procrastinate and now have gotten behind on several files. I know I need to grind to turn them around before the clients asks for an update, but that's easier said than done during the day with conference calls, emails, and new "urgent" work that doesn't stop.
The California law school deans are asking that the new bar exam score (1390 instead of 1440) be applied retroactively at least to Feb 2020 (which they should) but are also asking to go back to July 2017. As someone who failed July 2017 with a 1439 and passed Feb 2018, I can’t help but feel so frustrated with the State Bar. Even if they do it, my swearing in date will still be June 2018 instead of Dec 2017, I still lost 6 months of my career even if retroactively I passed the first time.
Anyone have those clients who ignore your advice, then what they want doesn’t get achieved. They reluctantly decide to go along with your advice and (surprise)get everything they wanted.
Anyone here successfully found a legal job abroad? In US looking to move to Netherlands or France. Any tips welcome!

Would a successful law firm disregard every opportunity in a location to disregard it as another attorney's territory? Or would they go at it anyway for the bounds of monopoly at least?? Confused!?
My depression is exacerbating my lack of motivation to work. In an attempt to bring about change, I’m interviewing (and in final stages) but am scared this lack of motivation will continue. (Cont).

What do you do with a low performing peer who doesn't take feedback well. It's affecting client deliverables. Already brought up to leadership. There hasn't been much movement due to a small bench.
Who else feels they could go back in time and choose something else besides consulting? I’ve always wanted to be a architect, but went the safe route and chose consulting.
My report told me that her personal and professional confidence has grown tremendously since I hired her. !!!! She had potential but was stunted by a bad boss. I knew we could turn it around! Yeah!
If I am on a project in a state with no income tax, does that mean I don't have to pay it for the time I spend working there?
I just want to vent. I finished viewing the farewell video that my principal put together for our students to view. I was omitted from the video. All the other teachers are there. My husband thinks I’m being too sensitive but this isn’t the first time the principal has “forgotten” about me. Last week she forgot to include me in the staff end of year meeting invite and I had to find out from someone else. The only time anyone knows I exist is when they want translating done 🤬

Married folks - what are your and your spouse’s financial accounts like? Everything combined? Everything separate? Separate with a joint account where you each add a % of income for shared bills?
As a writer, I and other creatives were rarely even allowed in the same room with clients. As a CD, I allow junior creatives to present their work to clients. Curious how other CDs feel about this
