AEs: What do you appreciate about your core SE? What would you change about how you work together?
Did anyone only start using their middle initial when they became an attorney? I have no idea where I got the notion but I felt like it was too formal at all my jobs before I went to law school but totally appropriate once I was licensed. Is this a custom?
Anyone have people who work for clients who are either young or inexperienced and treat you as outside counsel like you’re their bitch...except 90% of the time they have no clue what they are doing?
Do "market" firms pay recruiters similarly? I feel mine is making special effort for a recent submission as opposed to others and I'm cynically wondering if it's because this firm pays a bigger fee.
When a partner sends back your doc with tracked changes, should I do anything more than accept changes and proofread again? Seems like I am constantly just volleying minor changes back to them.
Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
Is anyone noticing a trend toward offering part-time or contract roles to reduce risk/cost of bringing on full-time talent?
I’m interested to know opinions on which service is better for in-house counsel, Practical Law or Lexis Nexis? Or another option that I might be unaware of? Im an in-house generalist at a medium sized, service based company and handle a range of matters including general business, contracts, employment/international employment, IP, privacy, and technology. I want to be able to access templates, practice guides, and checklists.
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
I’m a Canadian lawyer at an Aml50 firm in the US on a TN visa. I would like to take steps to change over to an immigrant visa (H1-B). Has anyone done this? If so, how did you bring up the conversation? How long were you employed before asking for this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Resume question. Do you include contract work on your resume or not if you have substantial reputable firm experience since (e.g. 5-6 years with the same firm)? Is having it in there better than the gap (~7 month gap) after law school? Just for full details, I was set to work at a small practice (~2 senior attorneys) and they rescinded due to losing a major client while I was studying for the bar in mid July) Thanks in advance for any advice!
Spam me with your favorite recruiters. Based in Arizona, need a very experienced Automotive Technician with 10+ years. Any suggestions. A firm that guarantees placement
Do upscale restaurants generally respect reservation overflow? I have reserved a table for 15 and there might be 2 addtl members. Would the restaurant accommodate them?
My team knows I’m on vacation, yet they’ve called me back multiple times. This is coming from senior leadership and junior leadership. It definitely is not an urgent request, they just think everything is urgent. I am allowed to roll the vacations over but what will I do with those days. Can’t wait for vacation to be sitting at home in q1 :)))))
I heard Deloitte has a requirement for internal initiatives on top of client work?? But they recently stopped requiring it. Is this true?Deloitte
I got my admin certification and want to work to get sales consultant certification. Any recommendations on helpful materials besides trailhead?
Hi everyone! I’m new to the bowl. I’m new to podcasting. I’m basically new to life. I’ve had an interest in voiceover for years but could never figure out what avenue to go in. Podcasting feels like the right fit, but I don’t know how to get started, nor how to choose a compelling theme. Any tips to help me advance through the learning curve quicker? Note: I have a MacBook Pro, USB mic, quality headphones, and a little sound dampening recording box for the mic.

What are the best watches under $2k that are: - Good looking - Reputable brand - Hold value - Not too flashy
I’ve been lucky enough to go to Europe a few times as a kid and I want my fiancé and I to go there on our honeymoon. We’ll be going 5+ months after the wedding and I want to go to a few different countries and I am curious if anyone has used a travel agent? We never used them growing up and I don’t like structured tours or all inclusive type vacations but it would be helpful for booking flights or specific towns to stay in. Has anyone just done it on their own or did you find the agent helpful?
Hola! Anyone looking for an international copywriter in Europe or elsewhere in the world? I’ve just been laid off. Thanks a lot in advance 🙌🏾
Does MBB have any military recruiting programs?
Can you quit the old company before the new company starts the H1B transfer? They advised not to, but I want to go home and chill
So I got a house for $260K using my 401K as a down payment. I put down $50K but that’s 70% of my retirement. I don’t really have a savings but I’m tired of paying rent. Do you think that was a good financial decision? Mind you the house is brand new, in a new area, and the houses in the subdivision have already gone up.
Anyone here from Boise? I’m from Texas, but plan on moving to Boise for a month and explore the area while wfh. I’m looking at internet for a month and wanted to get some suggestions on what the best internet is for a month? I’ve googled some and found one called Sparklight. Can anyone chime in?
Anyone else (who is NOT in big consulting/tech/banking), run the numbers of when they'll be out of MBA debt and realize it was not worth it? If you had an income of 120k, it would be quite difficult to save for a house/retirement/etc while paying down debt for 10 years.
How would you make sure the next employer to file green card immediately within the start?
What is a good answer for “how do you deal with stakeholders who do not agree with your recommendation”?
Is it just my firm? I work at a boutique labor law/insurance defense firm. The partners expect me to cut my hour to their expectations, and then they cut even more. The real amount of time I put in ends up cut to 1/4 to 1/3 the total Example: billed 13hrs based on a “soft” formula for 2k page doc review. Partner slashed it to 4.4hrs. I can’t keep up with the min billable requirement. Am I just not cut out for this or is this just a poor billable system? I’m tired of being reprimanded for this
Advised a client with a new Back to Office Op Model that has a separate year end cohort/comp review for people in the office greater than X days a year. Anyone else working on similar projects?
I have a call later today to discuss salary expectations for a Senior Manager IT Audit role at a bank in the NYC area. I have about 10 yoe at a Big4 and currently make about $160 k salary only not including bonus. What is a fair range to ask for without undervaluing myself or pricing myself out of the role?
