How long, on average, did it take you to study before you could pass the PHR/SPHR exam? Did you think it was worth it?
Ladies & Gentlemen, with one month left in Q2, some will fall short of our numbers. Others will hit them. I can’t speak for all of us here, however, I can speak for myself. That being said, I will NOT be one that comes up short of my number. Now, this leads me to you all, to present a question. If you have to prospect, if you’re looking for new business, is it worth $1500 to put 95% of your prospecting process on autopilot? If so, let’s chat.
How long does it take to get over ptsd from being in a toxic micromanaging environment? I was a top biller and top manager at a large staffing company for five years and was treated like a child. The place was crazy. Six months into my new role I’m still scared to request PTO or afraid that my boss would be mad if she found that I took an afternoon break to walk my dog.
Can anyone recommend a certificate or course that is actually useful for developing professionals and/or reviewing performance? I don’t want/need something that is just a credential, I’m actually looking to get some formal grounding in these two topics so I can overhaul processes at my consulting firm. Thanks for your advice!!!
For those of you who work at firms that have transitioned to work from home, what is your experience with that?
Currently, I have an employee who is struggling. Missing deadlines, making false promises to clients etc. Recently, I sat in one of his development sessions with his manager, and I was shocked at how disengaged he was and how junior he actually vs what we pay him. After some further investigation, we are afraid he lied on his resume and how his experience. How do you go about a situation such as this? This is a first for me.
Thinking about doing a startup in the law space. I have always been frustrated editing contracts. Would any of you be interested in a searchable clause bank that lived in Microsoft word? You would be able to search for a particular clause and then add or replace it to your current document.
Hello please can I find Victoria’s boot camp I keep hearing about this being great to study for shrm exam but I can’t find it anywhere thank you

Found out from an administrator at the firm that the firm’s hours have been low across the board over the past couple months. Is this cause for concern as an associate?
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
Job hunting: For writing samples, would employers prefer a redacted due diligence memo (PowerPoint format) or a redacted memorandum?
I’m looking for a screening tool that will assess a candidate’s proficiency with MS-Teams. Would anyone know if there is such a thing that exists?

Wife’s been with her new company for 2 years but they haven’t started her GC process. She has an i140 from her old company. Can she get an h1b extension (4th extension overall while on h1b) using the old i140?
I’m 23, plan on working for 2-4 years and then getting my MBA to either go high level industry or big 3 (if MBA is top tier). Is this still a good plan in today’s industry?
Hello! I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!
Anyone use a 3rd party service to apply for multiple medical licenses to make things easier?
Is it worth to take a step back to get more consulting experience for the long run? Currently S3 in international tax, up for promotion next year but the team is heavily focused on compliance and kinda have to fight for consulting work; got an offer from another B4 as a S1 with $95k base salary(NYC) but the team is mostly doing international consulting, would it be worth it to take the offer if I foresee myself in PA in at least 5 years?
Just got an offer from my dream company! Should salary negotiation be carried out over the phone instead of email?
Worst situation you have experienced while WFH? Client issues, oversleeping, missed meetings, firings, etc. Lay it on me.
I have received an offer for a Sr. AI Consultant at Deloitte in NYC. Could someone in the role or in the AI practice answer some of my questions related to projects, travel and comp increase on promotion. Thanks!
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
Have seen comp for NACR (restructuring) listed at around 150-200 for analysts, 200-275 for associates, and one mention of senior associates at 375k. Supposedly NACR gets crushed in terms of hours. But i've also read that targets are around 2000 hours per year? Something doesn't add up.....e.g. Associate $550/hr * 25% cap rate * 2000 billable hrs = $275k.......but 2000 hours is slightly over 40 hours a week (including 4 weeks vacay), not the 80 hr/week. So is there a ton of time on vacation?
I’ve been seriously considering quitting my six figure job to start my own law practice. I’m obviously terrified and uncertain when is the best time to give notice (I feel like need to have a solid plan before doing so). Any tips, comments, recommendations, feedback you can give if you’re a solo practitioner, worked for one, or also thinking about opening your own firm? Is opening a general practice firm a good idea to bring in as much business as I can? Is it a bad time to do this during covid?
Anyone 💁🏻♀️🐠at the Westin Charlotte? Stuck due to flights and wants to have a good night? ;)
So I’m a 26 year old guy, been working at a credit rating agency (think Moody’s/s&p) for four years and I’ve been interviewing for jobs and it seems like I’m only getting credit risk offers, and I really don’t want to do that. Do people think a FT MBA is a good option for me. I don’t really know what I wanna do but I’m thinking I should be able to double my salary (make 90k now). I currently have 150k saved up and tbh I’m super depressed at my job so I’m thinking an mba can help, any advice?
Hello my fellow Bowlers, Quick question for you folks that work in consulting gigs with the fed, how do you maintain your clearances. I know consulting gigs are shorter about 6 month to a year at a time, may be longer but let’s say you are on a gig that requires a TS\SCI does that mean when that project ends you have to find another one that requires the same level or you lose your clearance?
At a MCOL B4 and on track to be promoted to manager this year but unsure what the pay increase will look like. I’ve always thought of moving somewhere for a couple years but unsure if I should wait for what my current promotion would be (potential rotation in my ideal city for 2 yrs next spring), take a 15% increase job offer for diff B4 in the same city (unsure of travel), B4 offer of 35% increase but relocating to a HCOL city, or switching to industry for 20% increase (same city). WWYD? Lol
