Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?

I’m working on a project for an HR class and finding good sources with real evidence about this from SHRM and news publications has been rough. Thanks!

On trial this week in the downtown courthouse where I used to clerk. Every lunch spot I used to go to is out of business, safe for the corporate chains. Can't understate what optional WFH has done to these businesses and cities. As a parent with young kids obviously WFH is a lifesaver, so I can't throw stones,, but maybe for those who aren't caretakers having to come back in is a small sacrifice for saving these downtowns.

Ok I have an interview tomorrow and like to be prepared so I have a notebook where I’ve written relevant experiences and accomplishments. Would it look unprofessional to being my notes and reference them doing the interview? I can get so nervous and lose my train of thought so I just feel this will help keep my answers on track and focused on relevant information.

Ready to pull the plug - I think I want to try being a recruiter. I’d love to hear others’ experiences transitioning and how you like it now. Also if you’re able to make similar to your big law pay (junior associate level). You always see people saying they are doing crazy well, but I have to imagine that’s not everyone. Any pitfalls to watch for? Advice on finding such a job and picking a good recruiting firm?

Im a BDR at a large medtech vendor that expanded into SaaS complimenting our existing smart devices at hospitals. Sales cycles are long in this industry (min 12mo), but seems our value-add platform is so new to market that it’s taking longer (16-24+mo). I’ve been here for over 6mo and support 3 AE’s with zero pipeline and wins, despite meeting my own metrics to get meetings. Is this complex environment usual for enterprise software sales? Not sure if I’m hurting my new sales career by staying.

Anyone willing to share some best resources (books, podcasts, etc) for imposture syndrome? For awareness, I am a white women in HR. Always struggled with confidence but experienced some brutal/toxic management with my HR role with a bad business partner (now in a new role), and I am continuing to struggle with my confidence. Appreciate resources that are “self-help”. Also considering a therapist but hoping to also own the process myself for quicker “recovery”. TIA!

Ever feel disadvantaged by being the "new guy" at the office?

You're not alone: over 70% of new hires feel this way.

What if I told you it's your best launch pad for success?

I'm about to tell you why you have the absolute advantage.

Every disadvantage has its advantage.

When starting a new job, there will always be disadvantages to being new.

You may need to familiarize yourself with the software or the company's processes.

You may need to get used to how your new team works

When will the older generations realize they’re losing this battle on remote work? People don’t stay 40 years at the same place anymore because it’s “safe”. People will just leave nowadays. And it’s exactly what people are doing. My company can’t hire ANYONE because we don’t offer a hybrid even. On the flip side, we’re losing people in masses at this point and can’t fill any of the roles because the owner (who works remotely) won’t allow it. But “no one wants to work”. Biggest lie of 2022.

We have hired a nanny for the first time for our 10 month old. While our baby plays with her for some time, he cries when she tries to put him down for nap or changes diaper. Today was day 2 and she seems to be at her wit’s end. I didn’t expect a smooth transition but then I don’t see anything improving even a bit. Nor do I see her trying different approaches to keep him engaged. What did your nanny/you do to help the baby get comfortable with nanny in the starting days?

Greetings!

I am at a tricky juncture of my life - I have offers from two Financial institutions - Fidelity International as an Assistant Manager which is into People Mgmt- the other is Band 30 Risk Analyst-II with from American Express which is an IC role. The compensation difference is not much and around 1 LPA. I have around 30 days of NP left with current organisation.

Any suggestion as to which one should I prefer?

I would appreciate your inputs. Thanks a ton! :)

What do you hold in your IRA? I have 35yrs until retirement and thinking it’s time to open one, regret not doing it sooner.

So my six (soon seven) year old son loves to smell me...armpits etc and sometimes I have to admit I don't smell great (i.e after a long day working from home, exercising etc) and he doesn't seemed bothered by that. Also he is tries to touch my boobs and bum. I would like other women with children (maybe sons) who have this experience and at what age? I am sure on the 'smelling other people' behavior spectrum...this is not unusual but I dare not ask people I know in case it isn't.
