Trying to learn more about crypto. Is it still a thing? Becoming more of a thing? Any experts here that can share basics or info on where to educate myself?
I was working with a partner on drafting a brief, who hated the way I wrote it, made me drastically change everything, increase the word count and spill my blood, sweat, and tears for months into editing it. Just before filing a different partner took a hand at cutting it down because it was too long - and he edited the brief back to the way I wrote it originally 🤦🏽♀️ Sometimes this job is an absolute joke.
The projections I’ve seen for M&A activity this year are betting on a 50% recession. This is not going to end well for us deal people
Has anyone been a plaintiff before, especially in a case that got a lot of press/publicity (in my case, the NAACP offered to represent me, but I’ve received mixed advice on whether to take the offer)?
Want to tell my colleague that it's time to delete his twitter profile... not helpful from a professional image perspective
What are some best practices you implemented to be more efficient, engaged, and generally better at your job?
We have a case that was fairly active but went dead in late 2018. The team of associates on it left the firm and it landed on my desk. Partner’s Alabama been on it but doesn’t know of any of the specifics, of course. It’s been taking an extraordinary amount of time just to get the insane;y complex history of the case, and many more hours just to find stuff that’s buried deep within the system. I’m billing for it all (with the appropriate narrative), but I fear these hours will be cut.
Just when I feel like I’ve knocked it out of the park on one deal, I get behind schedule or miss something minor on another. I just can’t stay ahead of it all. Anyone else feel this way?
Should I set “billing requirements” for myself if my firm doesn’t? If so, what’s a reasonable system/metric? I’m at a small firm in a smallish market and have no real way of knowing.
I must have been a banker in a past life... only way to explain how karma has screwed me on this deal
What are the exit options as an advisory manager + MBA from top 10 school? Did anybody do it? What was your base salary/rank/company?
If you made $165 in Chicago, what would you look for to move to SF? Seen the calculators, but would love opinions from real humans who've worked in either or both cities.
If you leave the firm in October end, (and your performance was exceptional but no growth promise), are you entitled to receive any performance bonus?
The guy I am dating is nice but too busy. He tries to call me for the 10 minutes window he got. A part of me want to cut all slack and just be available and take it as-is. The other part feels, (contd
How is it going from one Big 4 to another? Also if I’m on the bench and give a two weeks notice, will they even let me stay the 2 weeks or just let me go on the spot?
How would you answer the interview question “What is the hardest problem you’ve solved in your job?” I feel like a lot of our problems are solved thru communication but that sounds dumb in an intervie
I like to flirt & sext because it’s fun and I have a high drive, but I’d also eventually like a relationship. However, I keep expediting intimacy because I’m afraid I’ll be hurt by a guy.
Is it being on the ‘bench’ or ‘beach’? Bench implies wanting to get in the game to me. I look forward to my beach time, as rare as it is
How does everyone feel being away from family (mainly parents who are in their old age). Don’t you guys think about the trade-off between a better paying job vs. the time spent/support for them? Me and my husband are having questions about this so thought will see what you all feel about this.
Anyone here have experience opening a food business (e.g., restaurant, ice cream parlor, food truck, etc.). Looking to open a pizza restaurant and would love some advice. TIL
1’m a 12th year teacher, who’s been in her current district 9 years. We had a change in administration, and since then it’s been very rough. I have anxiety, & am thinking of leaving teaching. Any help
I just started a couple months ago, but now I’m realizing that the city really isn’t for me, and it’s becoming a really big source of depression for me....
