I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

PE due diligence is hell. I did for two years. You’ll work twice the hours of slalom. You won’t get a PE related job afterwards.
What VP1 said. The only job you can realistically get is an operating job in a portco and you’ll go through hell while at the PE place. WLB matters to me in order to get my best work done.
i would let the latter firm know about my slalom offer and ask if they can match. even if they can’t, i would take it, personally.
slalom will always be there. $10k is nothing, and after bonus your total comp difference will probably be more like $2k (assuming 10% bonus at slalom).
go for the better upside. gotta risk it for the biscuit.
10k is not a big difference. It’s 100% about what path you want to build, what team you had the best first interactions with etc.
OP, what do you want to do? Tech consulting or strategy / due diligence?
You will work less hours at Slalom, but also likely get smaller raises and bonus.
I’d honestly take the strategy shop role. You’ll probably learn more there. If you decide to leave, Slalom is always there.
Slalom 2 - What makes you say that? Do you wish you had gone that route?
The Slalom role is in the DL practice and seems appealing, but I’m still not totally certain what it entails. Seems to be a lot of process optimization and pm type work. Are you familiar with it?
Happy that I’m getting the experience in strategy and transaction support. Exit opportunities are promising if you stay for a year+. Can be painful at times
Corp dev and strategy for the most part
Take the latter. WL balance isn’t worth what you’d pay for in terms of quality of work and career trajectory
