just know that no one in the gym is watching you or cares what you are doing. Unless you drop something or scream in pain, no one is paying attention
I actually totally disagree with S1 here — everyone is watching everyone else, all the time. On public transit, how many people do you look at and make instinctive judgements about? In the gym, same thing. I notice the gym bros, the women doing cardio, the overweight folks clearly just starting. And I judge them all, in my head, all the time: the gym bros seem shallow and slightly intimidating to me, The newbies really need a form check, etc. But the key point here is that it DOES NOT MATTER. No one is coming up to me and telling me that I grunt like a rhino on the last rep. No one is going to say “wow you look great”. The only person whose opinion matters in there is my own. So even though everyone is looking, judging, observing, I just do my thing and observe right back.
Getting a trainer for a month to start off at least is probably a great idea for OP, to help feel like you belong a bit more.
I was really intimidated & self conscious about myself when I first started hitting the gym.
But then I learned that unless you're a really attractive woman, no one really cares about you or what you look like at the gym, lol.
Seriously, no one cares. No one is comparing or watching you. Get some good headphones, put on a playlist you like and hit the weights, bro.
Learn a sport, do it regularly, buy some gym equipments and do it at home. Simple..
Nobody cares what you look like, or if you’re the strongest. Just go. Same advice if you’re overweight. Everyone else is focused on their own stuff.

Lift anyway, my man. You’ll be strong before you know it

You got this bro, you’ll be a monster in no time! 😈
Should I also do cardio along with lifting to improve my physique? Or will that cancel out the lifting/protein consumption?

Whatever workout you start with is what you’ll do best bc you have the most energy. So if you’re trying to gain muscle, you’d want to prioritize your energy for lifting heavy weights. While weight lifting, people are evaluating how they’re feeling at certain weights and whether they can lift more. If you start with cardio, you wouldn’t be putting yourself in the best position to weight train to your full potential bc you’d probably be way more exhausted.
But if your goal isn’t to gain muscle, it probably doesn’t matter too much.

I think you should get a personal trainer. Go early in the morning for a one on one. Plus let them help you with a meal plan.
FYI there are women who will like you as you are 🙂.
Buy a kettlebell, or a kettlebell handle that fits over a dumbbell (I use this for travel), and look into the Simple and Sinister program. You can check it out on YouTube.
20 minute workout or so to start, you can do it every day, it subs for both weights and cardio, and it works the whole body. Perfect beginner program, and excellent for busy individuals.
Others have said it here but it’s worth repeating, just start working out. That anxiety is normal, and we all experienced it at the beginning. I still do to some extent. Doesn’t matter, and nobody cares about how you look at the gym as much as you think.
