27yo that left consulting to go into real estate private equity. After 2 years of experience had to start at the analyst level and took a small paycut. Have an offer to now re-join consulting with a much higher salary 30k more at least. My PERE firm is small and it’ll probably take me 2-3 years to make those 30k back. Am I overthinking or should i pursue the money when the end goal is to retire as early as possible?

Companies especially startups expect you to not keep interviewing when you accept a job offer. “It can deteroriate your brand.”

I was laid off in June. Most consulting companies are on a hiring freeze that I’ve talked to. It’s pretty hard on my psyche to not get down on myself. I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."
