My family and I have been looking to move to an island. My spouse works remote and can relocate at any time. My firm has an office on said island, but they don’t pay me enough to live there. I would have to ask for a raise and to be relocated. I love my firm and the Partners that I work for, but I’m thinking of applying to other places that offer a more livable salary for the location. Would you just talk to the Partners at your current firm or look elsewhere?

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. I am in a design/production role at a mid-sized agency. We currently only have one person on the digital team doing UX. I recently presented my manager with a proposal for a new position, UI Designer, that I want to move into.
I would love some advice on how to negotiate salary on a new position that doesn't current exist. How do you respond to an offer? What if they say it's a lateral move and don't offer me any additional compensation?

How does your firm measure utilization? I work for a small boutique that defines it as utilization = number of billable hours/2,080 and full bonus payout occurs at 80% plus.
