Bain & Company Hi everyone,
I have an interview scheduled for Senior Associate, Data Science position with Bain & Company Advance Analytics Group. Can somebody give me an idea about the overall process? As in is it about technical rounds/coding assesments or mainly case oriented only?
Thanks

Reach out to your friend and politely ignore the recruiter. A referral from a friend goes further than a recruiter submitting, esp. since the friend’s referral fee (if you are hired) is likely lower than what a recruiter would be paid for your placement.
This is terrible advice, A1. How do you truly know said friend is in good standing? How do you know if they’re well-liked? Furthermore, what if the need is confidential or unposted? Some roles are handled delicately and exclusively through a single recruiting firm to navigate replacement roles. An associate friend at the firm may have 0 awareness of the position and likely for a reason. Go through the recruiter.

I’ve wondered about this as well. In my mind, a friend could help get your name to the top of a pile of resumes … but the helpfulness would end at that point. Your work experience, academics, and references would matter most. I would also think a good recruiter could help negotiate salary, start date, etc.
Talk to the recruiter and mention you have a friend there. If it’s a fit, chat with your friend to learn more, but let the recruiter send you. Then have the friend put in a good word right after.
