Thank you all, ok so update I ended up calling her and kind of explaining how worried I was and I even admitted that I tried to get advice because I didn't want to leave her alone but am freaking out at work and she was really understanding and decided to skip it because we wouldn't reallly be missed thaaat much. I really feel so happy about it and I'm glad I just fessed up. Had no idea that would be her answer...
Hope you were able to do whatever you needed to do. If you had to save your job by missing a party, I am sure your wife understood. I think having you in Dutch at work just to eat little wieners and drink bad wine would be worse on the marriage than a broken dinner date.
Does your wife know? And does this assignment HAVE to be completed tonight? If the latter is yes then you should tell your wife. A decent, emotionally healthy, and loving spouse will understand in this situation you have to work late. But if you can get away with turning in your assignment another day then go to that dinner. We’re pretty much stats to businesses and they know employees are catching on, so don’t feel ashamed to put your relationship over work
Exactly! If this is happening all the time though then I think it’s time re evaluate the job you’re at. If this happens sparingly I’m sure she will understand!
Family > Work
😅 until you can’t pay the bills for your family. Double edged sword, particularly granted it’s such a tough job market.
I think I’m so used to my husband canceling last minute because of his job I would not even care.
I think you should’ve ditched work and gone with your wife. She sounds like a keeper though
