Advice on moving from an individual contributor role to a team lead? I have about 7 years of experience and it seems so difficult to move up (like someone has to die or resign, and even then there are 25 people in line in front of you with more tenure). How do I avoid getting stuck in the individual contributor position? If you’re a lead, how did you make the jump? If you’re a fellow IC, what are your plans for advancement?

Please help! I’m a CRC who manages Investigator- led clinical research projects and I want to transition to a PM role in industry (I would slightly prefer not a PM role in clinical trials since I don’t have clinical trial experience.) I’ve applied to PM roles at many biotech companies (e.g. Charles River, ICON, Paraxel) but only got 1 interview which didn’t work out. Which companies should I look to for an entry level PM role? Any good startups to consider? Anyone have any insight or advice?

Any advice for a young engineer trying to land their very first job out of college?

I have been in management for the past 8 years and part of large corporations. I just recently joined a small organization that I have wanted to be a part of for the past 2 years, accepted the role of general manager. AWS vs Cloudflare BDR roles

AWS lowballed but I negotiated to match Cloudflare. Cloudflare offers more equity but AWS has a higher base.

I love Cloudflare. The people are great but it’s an engineering culture and the sales team isn’t as well shaped up and I can’t go for a promotion until at least 18 months of tenure. I am an investor in the company and think of them super highly. I’ve already got half a years SDR experience and AWS promotes quicker.

If you’re at B4, would you get any serious consideration at M7s if you tried to matriculate right when you hit the 3 year mark (apply at 2)? I hear that a lot of MBB people do this but the standard timeline for B4 seems to be to matriculate at 4 YOE.

I interviewed for KPMG on 11/15 for a Senior role and the HR emailed me on 11/16 that everyone liked me but they think I should be hired as an Experienced Associate. I had a call with the HR on 11/17 wherein we discussed about my salary expectations and the HR said he will get back in a day.
