If I had $100k in cash and $40k in 401(k), I would consider that a misjudgment. Do you have a plan for that cash?

Also all of my Fidelity investments are Index Funds, not sure if that makes a difference. Obviously everything is red right now but hopefully when I’m ready to buy a house etc there’s some sort of win there
Do you have a game plan on what to do with that cash or is this your rainy day fund?

Yes, all of my Fidelity money is in index funds! VTI and VXUS
What would you say were the best tips you got? I tend to fall into to analysis paralysis trap and don’t move the needle one way or another

I have a running spreadsheet in Google Sheets and anytime I get paid I add to it! I outline what I’m saving, bills, and then spending money. When I sit on money too long in my bank account I just spend because I know it’s there, versus being more intentional with it. Honestly once it’s out of my account I forget about it and just work with what’s in there, versus spending freely then being like oh shoot where did it go😂
I don’t necessarily track every single thing I buy like coffee etc because I found that stressful for me, but big things like rent and student loans I do track. Being able to see the money grow and see increases month to month motivates me to keep going, and it helps me feel secure.
In terms of things to invest in, I saw a lot of recommendations about VTI and VXUS Index Funds for long term on here so I researched those two heavily and stuck to them. They were doing decently well the first few months (I started in May 2021) but these last few weeks have been so rough, just trying to stay strong with them since it’s money for the longterm.
Overall I say just start where you are and start small, find 2 funds you can research well that cover a majority of the market, utilize YouTube too as a resource because a lot of people go into depth about Index Funds in terms that are easy to digest. And any extra money that comes in like bonuses, that’s a great way to jump ahead too by putting it away!
OP, if you don’t need the money for a while, contribute to a Roth IRA first, max 401k. Also, Accenture offers after tax retirement contributions that you can do a mega backdoor conversion to an IRA. Check out the internal Wealth Creation Community for more ideas.

I also have about $5,000 in a Marcus by Goldman Sachs account and that’s usually where I draw from if I need to pay for any expenses that I haven’t budgeted for (like car repairs)
