Clearly you don't fly United.
I stopped flying American this year because I was over their crappy service, delays, and shitty planes (excluding the nice Airbuses that I usually only got when traveling to ORD or DFW). I fly Delta now and even though I am not a fan of their new upgrade process, I still am 100 times happier than I was with AA.
Lol I have no idea how you guys have such bad experiences with AA. In 600 flights, I've had two cancellations (so rare I can recall both, one was weather) and only a handful of delays longer than an hour. Every airline will have their ups and downs but AA had been pretty solid.
They actually have the perfect name, @OP. Some shiny new bits and a lot of old borderline functional ones masking a decrepit infrastructure, run by old white people and with a low approval rating for the direction they're going. How is that not America?
American is the worst of the airlines.
Rename Afghan airways.
American > United
American flies Airbus planes. Which is quite EU of them.
I'm with M1, I'm around 400 AA flights in the 4 years I've spent in consulting and I've had 3 cancellations (2x DTW, 1x LHR, all during the polar vortex year) and 1 diversion (DFW-->LBB due to tornadoes) even flying out of ORD. I've missed more flights due to traffic/poor planning than that. Delta was absolutely terrible when I tried them back in 2010 and on the few times I've flown United it doesn't seem to be much better or worse than AA out of ORD.
K1: Umm...no
Was burned by United many times and switched to AA. No regrets. Wish I had united status though as Star Alliance has better options to some international cities I travel to
United is the worst in my experience. Probably depends on the route.
United obviously has the best international alliance, AA the worst unless flying to the South Pacific. But no question United is the worst overall.
I agree that the airport you are leaving from and arriving to makes a huge difference. I was living in Chicago and didn't have as many problems with AA and United for that matter until I moved away.
