Hi Everyone !!!
This June I completed my 9 months at Career Level 12 and Sub Level 3 I.e, CL 12.3 at Accenture Operations. My Annual Talent Discussion and One-on-One with People Lead is complete as of last week.
I have 3 questions now :
1. When can I expect to move to 12.2 ?
2. What is the general hike I can expect ? And when it is reflected ?
3. When will be the variable pay will be paid out ?
Can anyone here help me with this performance cycle part ? I am really confused.

We have the Same expectation for Experienced Hires as MBAs or undergrads.
Cases may or may not be geared to your functional area. I interview across levels and use the same few cases. Honestly, interview content heavily Depends on the role you are interviewing for. If it’s an expert role, I would expect some functional area content, but if it’s just a generalist consultant role then it will be the same as undergrad and MBAs
It sounds simple, but be diligent in case prep. I love it when a candidate comes in and just crushes my case. Review your resume- have good stories to cover your experience ready and prepped. Have fun- the best candidates are the ones who have fun in the interview
McK 1 - When you refer to having good stories prepared, you need to let him know how different McK’s PEI is...
OP — Read up on McK’s interview process. You need to have crazy detailed stories ready to go on your experience that are introspective and solid in terms of you learning / demonstrating competence.
I interviewed with them one year out of undergrad (for expert track). Expectation was very similar to undergrad with a couple questions on my specific competency. Cases were similar and required significant prep.
Thanks! I m looking for 5+ years of experience and very well defined functional expertise.
The cases don’t seem that hard, but is there specific approach/language?
Yes — Case with current MBBs and alumni prior interviewing.
We don’t evaluate differently based on referral or not.
You're putting yourself at a disadvantage if you haven't done 30+ cases with a friend/colleague and a dozen or so with someone who knows what they're doing.
Case interviews are a learned skill, and real work experience is largely irrelevant.
McK1 The cases will not be in any way geared towards my functional area?
And the interviews will be the same as undergrad or MBAs?... 🤔🤔🤔
McK1 any general tips?
Try to bring in your functional expertise if it is relevant to the case. Chances of the interviewer picking a case from your functional area are low though (since they all have their cases selected for the most part). Be genuine and bring your whole personality to the interview. And yes, have fun as suggested.
Thank you for the insight and advice!
For Non MBA experienced candidates to McKinsey—how does McKinsey evaluate your candidacy differently if you weren’t a referral candidate?
Thank you M1!
You’re welcome!! :)
