Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks
I wish this was more lively.

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Yes, No
Ah! Depends how long were you laid off for? If more than a month or two months I'd use the extra essay to address it. I'd focus more so on what you did During they time and what you learned - emphasize what you learned and how it made you a better leader. Don't dwell on it but resirect
Thanks, E1, but I think my questions were badly phrased. How did folks handle layoffs in bschool apps, and how did it pan out at some of the top schools?
Wait, so you're saying if it was for about 1 month, I shouldn't even address it in the optional essay? Just mention it as the "reason for leaving"?
Under one month, personally I'd leave it. If it was consulting to consulting state why you took another opportunity rather than why you left a place. E.g. Hoping to gain leadership experience accepted role. If it makes you nervous address it in the optional essay but don't harp on it. Speak about positives and your learnings and how you have become better from it. Essentially saying hey shit happens but I bounced and I am crushing it now.
