I paid $2400 this year..

Netting Fed and state, have to pay over $30k 😭

Paid 80k for Biden to throw down the 🚽

~6500 🫣

Are there any ways to save on taxes when trading? All short term gains getting taxed at 30%

Tax loss harvesting

All my return straight into my student loan

Paid $10k

First time in my life as a W2 employee, married, claiming 0, had to pay $3,300. I haven’t dug into to understand why this year is different. 😂 I’ll probably discover the wife is claiming 8 so she can shop more.

You need to start withholding extra along with both claiming 0. The system didn’t work for two working spouses. Calc it on your own but I had to do $200-300 extra each pay

I haven’t gotten a refund in like ten years. Owed $9k this year mostly on capital gains. Last year was $43k.

Paid $7k 🤮

Paid $25k estimated last year and now also owe $32k federal. Living paycheck to paycheck in the bay area to some degree.

$10k and naturally market would crash immediately after I cut the check

Living in Van. Previously lived in Toronto. Obviously rent prices are high as is cost of living. Generally go out and spend more often living in a city. Boyfriend and I on good salary but not saving much due to the above. Before we move home to our own country, we’d love to spend a year close to Vancouver where rent is cheaper, temptation is less, to save. A commute to Vancouver 1-2 times a month needs to be possible (his job). That can be a flight if it’s not crazy. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Feeling under-qualified for non-FAANG tech product counsel role. Final interview upcoming. I'm a BigLaw junior and pivoted to data privacy/cybersecurity a year ago.

Is this just normal impostor syndrome? Does anyone feel truly *prepared* to go in-house? I have little to no experience advising on product and do mostly incident response, but this seems like a unicorn-level opportunity I can't pass up (great comp, role, and willing to hire me, a junior).

Any insight is deeply appreciated.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
