Any recs on amazing restaurants in San Francisco? Not a fan of Michelin star restaurants with food served in tiny portions but I want to take my in-laws somewhere fancy when they visit.

Also any recs on dog friendly wineries?

There is an epic vegan sushi place in Mission in SF. Way better than real sushi. Not even vegetarian and I love this place.

The Stinking Rose!

Stinking Rose is a decent restaurant but not amazing or fancy if that’s your criteria.

Chinatown

La Mar for dinner and then The View is a must see for drinks

I’d say Flour + Water (the original location) if it’s open (Google maps says it’s temporarily closed too). I haven’t been to their pizzeria location but I hear it’s good.

My girlfriend recommends Water Bar Restaurant, Epic Steak Restaurant, Liholiho Yacht Club, Lolinda, and Beretta.

a Mano in Hayes Valley!

It's called a donner not a gyro. It was invented in Turkey and the poor excuse for 'gyro' in NY is microwave food compared to elite restaurant level kebab in Gokyuzu (London).

My parents are visiting this week and mom and I made dinner tonight. Salmon is seasoned with Trader Joe’s ajika (a Georgian spice blend) and we just roasted the broccoli. The standout is the mejadara. It’s spiced rice and lentils with fried onions and is popular throughout the Middle East. We used the recipe from Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi’s cookbook, Jerusalem.

*Ohio* I stepped into a role as Software Engineer (.Net) with no experience at $70k. Six months ago I had brought up the fact I was being underpaid for the job I was doing with now 3 years of experience being the only Engineer on the team and my manager agreed giving me an increase to $90k. My manager is wanting to get me some help and posted a new role modeled after me (3 yrs exp) w/ salary between $88k-$126k. How should I approach my manager about it without looking incredibly greedy?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

At KPMG, was going to go up for M last year but it would have been a tad early (only 2.5 years at senior) so I decided to push it back to this year. This year, after talking about my business case since last summer, I was now just told I won’t even be given the opportunity to go up for M at all, with very weak reasoning. I pour a lot of time and effort into my job and this felt like a true sand banging. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it firm being cheap w/ the current economy? TIA.

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
