I concur with your statement about future of CPA work. I’ve come across Reddit threads on this topic before and know some are out there. Apparently there’s even some shortcut method to CFP certification for CPAs.
Definitely try to do some more research on it both here and Reddit - I’ve seen some useful threads before
I heard the annual fees are absolutely stupid. I don’t think you should do it unless you want a CFP Role. From what I’ve heard, it’s really just a sales job. And like, what’s the value of you having both of you can’t provide or sale the services of a CFP?
You shouldn’t try to juggle both and or/do both. Either be good at one thing but not both. If you have a separate department, let them deal with one or the other. I have heard of CFPs who are CPAs but they usually arent doing both. These CFPs are usually trusted more because they are CPAs. Conversely, if you’re doing tax returns as a CPA, it’s better to focus on tax returns and not both unless you have seperate departments but you as an indiviudal alone, no. Due to this, it really does NOT make it practical to get the CFP. I wouldn’t say that about a CFP (who only focuses on CFP work) trying to become a CPA tho.
