It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

When you acquire only post tcja NOLs from an acqusition, do you need to reduce the DTA by the 382 limited portion or does it not matter because NOLs are carried forward for ever? Or do you only record 80% of it bec thats what u can ultimately only use?

Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. However, I do see a compelling future by using my knowledge and skills to open my own firm/business and work less hours as long as I make enough money which is $75k, or if I do work long hours, it’s because I want to.

For those managers and senior managers who are directly working with new staff and interns - how are you maintaining the quality? I am at a breaking point now as I have no seniors on 3 of my clients. How am I supposed to concentrate on complex allocations if I have to do all the updates on basic M-1s. All the experienced S2 and S3s I trained got pulled into other engagements as acting managers. At any level above Senior, how do u manage the relationship between utilization and realization, which is an inverse relationship. Seems to be either blow the budget (and write it off), or eat a lot of time.
