It’s important to block your calendar for lunch or mental clarity every day. Since the beginning of the pandemic, when we started working from home, I put a recurring calendar meeting from 1 to 1:30 PM as a way to remind myself to get up and go out. Sometimes I use it for lunch or a walk but it’s time just for me. I only move it if there’s an urgent deliverable.
It’s an issue. I block 30 minutes a day. Don’t always get to take it, but people are generally pretty respectful of it. Also sometimes you just have to keep yourself on mute snd make lunch and eat while on a call. People will just have to deal with it.
I work with people in two other time zones- so yes, this is now a constant issue.
Block your calendar for an hour every week. I don’t skip lunch. Everything else can wait until after I eat tbh
OR PEE!!!!!!!!!!
Just block the time daily. If not yes go off camera and eat quickly. I food prep on Sundays (nothing fancy) but which helps with assembling something in minutes during the week. Or at night just make a little more and have for lunch. If this is really not possible then order in a carton of high quality protein drinks. I have one with 42 grams of protein and that fills me up. They get old fast but so in a pinch.
The calendar blocks for lunch or even just time to execute on to-dos were helpful for a while, but I’m finding now people just send invites for time already marked as busy. Not sure what the answer is but there is definitely a systemic problem going on.
Yes, but I block off 30 mins for lunch. Also, and I hate to say it but as an SVP you’re kind of setting a bad example for the team, too.
Working remote, the team has no idea if I’m eating lunch. All they know is my calendar is full all day and part of that blocked time could include eating lunch. They don’t know the details.
