It's a new day. To get a raise you need to get a new job.
I really hate to think of changing jobs - I have excellent PTO which I don’t want to give up and start over.
Rising Star
I have only really gotten raises by moving to a new job.
Exactly!
None. Even changed jobs still making the same amount of money I was in 2019. Look at other opportunities and the pay is either equal to my current salary or less or more with worse benefit.
I am in home care and no standard of living, merit or any kind of raise in 5 years. They keep saying they have a company who is researching the market to see where we should be. I am not going to hold by breath.
If you are a healthcare worker without a union (like me) then we are screwed as far as raises, patient to caregiver assignments, cost of benefits etc. I LOVE seeing the nursing unions go on strike and getting what they deserve. We need to rise up as a whole profession. And people wonder why there is going to be a massive nursing shortage in the next 10-20 years as the old time nurses retire…. or drop dead from stress. And younger nurses find bedside care “gross” and beneath them.
30 yrs experience, stagnant wage for years , 1% " merit" increase is not even as much as MEDICARE gives... but corporate owners are taking in millions .
Not one in 3 years.
Yes. Went 9 years with no raise.
4 years for me, changed over type of employee, got .83 cents
My company put an ad out looking for specific skill sets. I went got certified/degreed and asked for a raise and they denied me bc I'm not giving more of my time.
I have gone 6 years without a raise despite beating productivity standards by 10% routinely. Glass ceilings get hit fast in healthcare for clinicians but not physicians or administrators.
I've worked for a hospital system, in Finance, for a very long time and I've received a raise every single year. Some years, the clinical staff had market adjustments to stay competitive. And good benefits. Are you working for an independent physician office? You have to decide if you want to draw a line - raise or I leave. If you stick for the PTO, don't complain the salary as you're making the choice.
This doesn't seem right.
There has been no raise in seven years, and you said, "I really hate to think of changing jobs—I have excellent PTO, which I don’t want to give up and start over."
Please find a new job, you are being taken advantage of. The PTO is great, but it does make up for the lack of compensation. Don't underestimate your worth and experience. Demand a raise.
These CEO’s, CFO’s and COO’s are making bank. Hundreds of thousands a year.
All the people at the top continue to benefit financiall.
Union. So no.
I have loved every job I have had in healthcare since I started. I have also been a top performer in every job. Sadly, as others have mentioned, you have to go to another job to get a raise. Yes, I have had the 1-2% annual raises, which are a token, especially when you get the "most people didn't even get a raise." I have not had a job in Healthcare that I wanted to leave, but I didn't have a choice. You can't put an ambitious, hard-working person in a cage and expect them to just stay there forever.
Nope. Every year we get raises depending on out performance (meets expectations, not meeting expectations, etc). This year was 4% raise. I'm pretty sure last year was 3%.
Have you looked into RTM to increase revenue for the clinic and then doing revenue sharing?
yup 2 years and counting.
We went to a pay per visit scheme, my pay was actually decreased. A real slap in the face.
Run ! Find a new job
I've never stayed in a job that long without looking for another one to make more and advance my career. I'm going back to college in January to complete my nursing degree, again to make more money to support my family in this economy in case my husband was to lose his only eye and become disabled.
I thought maybe it was just my office!! I have been there 4 years and thankfully, I got $1 raise my 1st year but nothing since then. I actually heard the doctor telling the office manager (after a co-workers review) "She us funny! A raise?? For the cost if living? Ever heard if getting a second job?" Broke my heart but most of us cannot afford to get another job right now. I have no car, mine stopped on the highway with my baby in the car. (If anyone had a car or a cheap car that will take payments 😶) All while the dic and his wife always take. Week off EVERY MONTH for vacation. It makes me very emotional. I know he has worked hard to be here where he is, but he knows 95% of us are paycheck to paycheck and could all use a raise.
Same here. Not but maybe a dollar depending on the job in ten years. Medicare cut backs
