No. I learned early on in my career that the job is never truly done, so the only way I can find balance is by intentionally limiting my time commitment to work.
I can end a day or week of work with the satisfaction that I have made a solid effort and then shut it down so I can enjoy my personal time.
Respect this so much.

Personally, I prefer to put in longer weekday hours so that the weekend is mine.

Yup every weekend for fifteen years.
Sounds tiring

That salary is for 40 hours a week. Once that cap is hit I DIP!

Yeah, that may work in academia but not in the real world.
Being unavailable/unreachable and/or "Quitting projects uou dont like" is a good way to stop getting staffed on projects, branded as a low-performer, and ultimately added to the RIF (layoff) list.
You don’t get paid to work on the weekend
Unless you’re a doctor or nurse, it is not life or death.
Feel the same way 💯
Strong relate. Have started trying to accept that I am not going to work on the weekend and/or filling every hour at the weekend with social plans to stop myself falling down the "I should be working" dread spiral.
Sending you love & self care vibes x

You work at Deloitte. Not MBB. You don’t get paid enough to work the weekend.
Neither does MBB. Consulting as whole is not a high paying industry relative to the demands unless you are senior mgr +
If i have to catch up on the weekend, I'll do it Saturday morning, starting at like 6am. Finish before lunchtime and not think about work until Monday.
I'd guess i do this ~once a month on average.
1. Great vocabulary, OP.
2. Speaking of laptops, does D still give out laptops that could run a space station? My laptop at D was mammoth, heavy, and way overpowered.
This is me for the last 3 years now .
There will always be work - if you get on top of things, more will be added. One tactic is daily prioritization - what 3 things really matter today and the rest is icing? By Friday, do a quick assessment - did I get my daily 3 done? If not, what got in the way? Does the rest of the list still matter? What should be dropped (may require talking to your manager)? After a few weeks, you have a pattern of the signal from the noise and this helps protect weekends and Sunday night stress. Good luck, it’s a process.
