Anyone ever filed something with HR about a verbally abusive partner?

I filed an HR report for a Counsel at my first firm after confiding in the managing partner how abusive they were. My work dried up after they took me off all matters with the Counsel and I ended up lateraling at the end of the year.

The managing partner sheepishly told me that it’s very hard to find experienced M&A attorneys right now, but that “there is a reason they’ve been at multiple top firms and never made partner.”

I got fired for it.

I had a friend who had a similar issue a few years back. They wanted to do something about it, but before they could, another partner actually called him out on it. The behavior stopped.

I had a very verbally abusive attorney that I worked with. He was a misogynist and just plain nasty. I also had a verbally abusive paralegal also just plain nasty. I said nothing because I was new in the firm and earning a great salary-I only lasted at this firm for 2 months, but had I said anything about the abusive behavior, I am sure that I would have been let go immediately. It’s just the way of the world-These two individuals were considered to be indispensable, I think, though I don’t know if anyone really is-

Yes. I practiced law at a big insurance defense firm several years ago and had a verbally abusive boss. He was a nightmare. I finally went to HR and he stopped being verbally abusive. Unfortunately, he was extremely passive aggressive toward me after that point, stopped giving me guidance on my cases, and gave me all the terrible files to work on. I eventually found a new job and left.

Went to the partners in my group about an abusive counsel, partners then filed with HR. I had months of receipts, so the counsel admitted to everything. HR/practice group put a staffing ban between the two of us, so we can’t be staffed on the same matters unless I consent to it.

A1 - that’s a great way to describe it.

I was able to see her entire employee file..even her address. I was really freaked out and I went to another profile and the same thing happened, I was able to see this person's emergency contact. Is this fucking normal? Should I say something and will I get in trouble for looking at a colleagues file?

⚠️Toxicity Alert ⚠️

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

I want to recommend to HR an Email Etiquette Workshop for teaching Assistants to Executives how to write to clients, address colleagues above and below their levels, and avoid passiveness. Any reco's?

I just finished a big jury trial with a senior partner (SP). There were co-parties w/separate counsel. SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. SP did a few parts but went rogue and did things that were offensive/risky/bad for client. It became clear that SP is not performing like SP used to and may be a liability. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.
