Are you thinking of switching careers from UX into Finance as an analyst or switching industries to doing UX work for a financial services company?
😆 No. The bonus part yes, the finance part no.
Where for bonus and was it a lot? Numbers and details would be helpful if you’re ok 🙏🏼
To be honest I’m not that familiar with an analysts responsibilities but I’m assuming it’s quite a leap away from UX right? As far as doing UX at. Finance company, I’ve heard the work is pretty boring. But is that true? Does the compensation make up for it? I’ve heard Goldman Sachs’s gives its designers bonuses but what has been your exp?
I’ve had 8-10% annual bonus if I meet my departmental goals as a UX practitioner jn the financial services industry. Every employer is different though, and if you are made an offer then the employer should communicate annual bonus at that time.
As for boring, it depends on you and the work. Some people like the transactional nature of the role and supplement with designing w an emphasis on service design or user research. What you should ask yourself is what aspect of UX do you like the best? What do you need to grow in and can you get it from the financial services sector?
Depends on the market and type of role (insurance, bank, loan lender) within financial services. What market/city are you in?
I would guess an offer would be around 130K with a bonus structure for a senior level role NYC financial services industry
Interested in what others think though...
This is so helpful thank you! In the finance sector what’s the going salary range for senior XDs?
NYC - been reached out to a lot by Goldman, Morgan Stanley, blackrock, chase etc...
For a UX position of course
