Anyone have any area recommendations for buying a house in Houston but have regular commutes downtown? 300k max but would like a house (not a townhome/apartment).

I’m 25 and I have this itch to move to a completely new city. I love my city and just bought a house there but I just have this weird feeling I should be somewhere else. I’ve lived in my city for my whole life except for college (which was only 3 hours away). It seems weird and random to up and leave especially after just buying a house. Hi i lost majority of my money in the stock market. I married and promised my family that I will not make the mistake I made 7 years ago. Gambling. Is this an addiction I have. I keep selling stocks and taking loses buying other stock hoping it will recover but never did and sell again taking loses and buy again. It now sink in to me.
