Their employee rate for hotels is amazing
I used to work there. The hotel discount is indeed awesome to have. Pretty good WLB, and most groups are pretty relaxed, from what I saw.
I tried to negotiate salary, but they came back with a guaranteed bonus for a couple years instead. (They have salary bands that they pretty rigidly stick to.) Bonuses can be pretty decent, depending on your level, but salary increases are tiny. RSU awards can be even better if you're at that level.
There are occasional pockets of toxicity - I was in one. Ask "Of the people that were on this team five years ago, where are they now?" Many people have been in the same role for decades because they found their niche and like it. Other people will move internally to grow their career. But if they've all left the company completely, wonder why.
My job at Marriott was fantastic. Unfortunately, after COVID struck, most of us were laid off since no one was traveling. I wish I had stayed with the firm for a longer period of time. Excellent leadership, a decent work/life balance, and an interesting sector to work in. I can't comment to what it's like to work at the firm post-COVID, but it was fantastic during my time there.
My dad used to work there and ultimately left due to the inconsistencies across the board, but especially in procedures. His personality doesn't do well in those types of environments
I have heard anything good about working at Marriott. I know 3 people that worked there at different locations and each one felt like the company didn't appreciate them at all
