Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Well A23 just noted via a town hall that people are being re-homed across the network due to us losing business/business not panning out. I imagine if someone is out there in no man’s land without a home then it’s only a matter of time before they get the axe. That’s what happened when we “married” McCann. Call it layoff or whatever but within the next couple of weeks people are getting cut.
This is legit. At A23, 2 big launches went bust, lost some accounts naturally, and some left in the wake of Renee’s exit. It’s more than the agency can absorb, so they’re trying to place folks in open positions across the newly expanded network - and they have already successfully done so in a lot of cases. But, I agree, the odds of 100% success are probably slim despite their confidence, so some layoffs are likely to happen.
There are no more overall layoffs happening. Stop with the fear. But if your agency loses a client, that means some people can be let go - and if your agency wins a client, they will have to hire. Business as usual.
Stop drinking the kool-aid
They will be ongoing, quarter by quarter, for years.
Sorry.
Years?
a recruiter from one of the original OHG agencies messaged me a few days ago about coming over. if there are layoffs coming it looks like they’re up to their usual routine of replacing good legacy folks with external people they hope they can pay less

Yup. $15k-$20k less in salary.
Yes. Either next week or beginning of February
My team just got our first billable job bag since October last week. It’s been tough and would really suck if I’m let go now that the work has started up again
900 are affected at A23
It’s around 100
Sounds like some happened last week at PR shops. Any rumors of more this upcoming week?
