Don't eat
Utilize hotel lounge. If per diem is keep what you save, wouldn't general tips on saving money apply here
Try to order bigger meals you can eat twice. (Buy a big sub, save half for later)
Make instant oatmeal in your room with the coffee pot. Boil water for tea and then pour on oatmeal. Almond and think thin bars will keep you full for a long time. Pack peanut butter, jelly, and a loaf of bread. Ok, all pretty extreme, but those are my ideas. Pocketing an extra $1k per month would be amazing!
Grocery stores
Hotel lounge for breakfast and dinner. Eat out for lunch.
Btw, in 2009, they would not let me take peanut butter in my carry on. Maybe buy once you're there or look for those smaller packets in the store. I think that it is funny how many people liked my recommendations. My husband always makes me feel crazy when I do those things, but I'd rather be able to travel and save money than not. I still travel to NYC quarterly to get my hair done and employ most of these strategies. Haha
Pack protein powder or buy at a grocery store. Have that for dinner and eat breakfast in the lounge. I've spent about $40/week on food doing that
Haha sadly, what I wrote is like my daily life on my current local project sans per diem
cook rice and eat with yogurt every night
True, @A2!
Cook food yourself.. Nothing cheaper and healthier than that
