Anyone move from waterfall to agile project management as a scrum master and find that it’s not for you? I’m just not happy in this role. It’s very hands off and in addition to that my company still expects its scrum masters to be glorified admins.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misconception of what scrum masters are and what they do, but the same can be said for agile development entirely.

Scrum Master isn’t for everybody, and that’s okay. It’s largely a coaching position for teams to learn how to work better together and find ways to deliver value effectively. It also requires a lot of courage to challenge the status quo when you see things impeding the team outside of their control. There will always be organizational impediments to tackle, but change doesn’t happen overnight so you also have to exhibit a lot of patience.

It’s certainly not a glorified secretary or admin, but for some reason that’s how a lot of companies and newly-certified SMs treat it.

Have you looked into product management or ownership? If agile is the approach your org is going and you’re happy in that environment, that may be worth looking into.

I have but there’s not much openings for PO’s where I am. I’m also not sure it would be the best fit. Part of what I enjoy about project management is that I just implement the wishlist vs having to create it if that makes sense. I’m considering leaving and moving back to an organization that utilizes waterfall or moving out of project management all together.

Oh sorry I meant at my current company. But other PO openings outside my company require years of experience. I actually just started job hunting again and feel hopeful. Thank you!

I have 10 years of experience. Mostly in Unix, C++ and Visual C++ and MS SQL. I developed interest in cloud computing as like many others and was able to clear AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solution Architect Associate and Professional, AWS Security. Along with these I was able to clear 8 Azure certifications as well: 3 fundamentals, Azure Security, Azure Developer, Azure DevOps and Azure Architect.
Now my main question, can I try to switch on Cloud Architect or some other similar cloud roles?

Hello,
Can we get promotion after the mid year review in CitiusTech?
Or the promotion for the mid year already done?
I see for many people the designation has changed but for me it's not. I was under the impression that the promotion happens after the mid year discussion or after the year end discussion.
Can someone please tell the details and when we can expect the new revised letter mentioning the new designation.

I work heavily in AWS and am looking to learn another cloud platform. I have zero knowledge of azure and gcp and would like input on which to learn. Azure would make sense since its the second largest in terms of market share, but GCP seems far more interesting and technically challenging with things like Kubernetes and BigQuery.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

So I used to work for a company where my job was good, was a director of business solutions for a fashion brand. Only issue was that the CFO micromanaged and ended up leaving. My background is digital transformation however I took an infrastructure position to rebuild a provincial healthcare system. I always lacked the hardware side and thought this was a good move but I feel like I’m losing my digital skills and don’t enjoy the work. I’m in it for 7 months now.

Hi everyone,

I have got the ey hr mail stating i should provide him with aadhar card, information sheet and latest resume for a audit and assurance contract for 6 months as iam a semi qualified CA.

Here my question is should i take this opportunity. Cause since this is only for 6 months. After that, what i can do, where should I try to get the job?

In mid size firms, people won't pay as much as big 4 pays.

Should I take it or am I making a mistake by taking this.

Hi everyone,
I passed my PMP thanks to this sub group.
I have passed Above Target in the People section, and T in the other sections.
It was 95% situational questions.
Thave used AR's mock exams, and used my wrong answers to figure out my weakness and where I truly stand. I didn't purchase AR's course, just the mock exam simulator.
The 200 agile questions by David McLachlan were amazing, it really helped me in adapting to an agile mindset. TIA simulator n Joseph Phillip is useful.
