Hi there! I'm working on the data modeling assignment and looking for some tips for data mapping (how power query or vba can help). Thanks!
To sum up my audit experience, glad I picked audit over tax. But wished I stayed away from public accounting altogether.
My relationship with my spouse isn't that great. Meanwhile a sibling decided to come visit us for a couple days. The relationship between the sibling and I is cold.
Would you go out of your way to accommodate the sibling and take care of them when they visit?
I always find it a little funny when OW people comment/like/etc in this bowl since there are only about 20 of us in the whole firm
Should Europeans living/working in the US tell their foreign bank/s they have tax residency is in the US? What are the implications of this generally speaking? What if you own an apartment abroad and you’re already paying property taxes in the foreign country?

Everyone says to join amdocs, but money diff is also much betweeen both.
Also if i do all paperwork with amdocs and doesnt join will there be any issue for me, i dont intend to do this, but in case cognizant backs off I have to keep a back up offer in hand.

Are there industry jobs (PE, HF, etc.) where I would still work similarly as hard as B4, but get paid commensurately? e.g. instead of a standard 9-5 industry getting 100k, 9-7 industry getting 120k
Those of you who were successful, how did you go about talking to your counselor about wanting to switch offices/service lines?
1yr audit with CPA @ ~60k. Offer for Sr. Analyst at a CPG company for ~72k. Would you take this? Any questions I should be thinking about? Thanks.
So.. if I put in my notice and they let me go immediately due to going to a competitor (I heard that pwc pays for the two weeks regardless) - can I immediately start at the new job? Wouldn’t that mean that I am on both payroll for two weeks? Is that an issue?
Pls help! I’m updating my resume with the hopes of leaving the firm in the spring. How do I go about including the industries that I’ve worked in and that I’ve been on IPOs? Currently a staff 2 (started in the summer of 2019) and I’ve been on a total of 4 busy seasons and then the 2 IPOs. I also have about 5 years of work experience (incl accounting) prior to joining EY, so not overly concerned about leaving before promo if the timing works out that way
Accepted an offer recently (last week) and haven’t heard back from the HR regarding a confirmed start date (we discussed dates but didn’t nail down in offer letter) or background check, is this stuff that normally takes time to get set up? Thanks
I got an email on Friday at 1:30 asking for my availability this week for an interview and I responded back Saturday at 11:30 and sent the recruiter an email letting him know I responded and I was looking forward to the interview but I haven’t heard back. Is this a bad sign or am I overthinking it?
S1 tax in Boston, intending to relocate to Pittsburgh for personal reasons. I'm expecting a pay rate decrease due to COL difference. Any advice appreciated. Referral, recruiting forms to avoid, etc...
Could someone who works in public accounting specifically on the tax side DM me to help me with my resume?
what is the best career opportunities for audit Senior 2s in big4 ? Not a fan of technical accounting and not sure how long I should stay in PA. Thank you!
Ok fishbowl family - I need advice. Rising senior 1 here and realizing that I genuinely get no joy out of audit. I’m way too stressed and really do not care about accounting and have made it a life goal to never book a journal entry. I want to take the next year to figure out what my dream job is and go for it. Here’s what I like: I love talking to people, mentoring & teaching, organizing, learning. I literally loved everything in college- I was between majoring in accounting or psychology. 1/X
I applied at this company and last Friday they verified my references. And then 4 days later hiring manager sets up a phone conversation letting me know they still have other finalist they are interviewing and will let me know when t they make a decision. I really wanted this job and now idk if I’ll even get it. But my question, why would she verify my references and not offer me the job!is that normal ? This never happened to me before 😞
I loathe tax, I want to work to live not live to work. Switching fields means starting all over again. I feel torn. Anyone have success stories? Advice?
Has anyone made the leap from Corporate accounting/Financial reporting to something more niche like Revenue Reporting? I work in SEC reporting but want to work somewhere more diverse/fast paced/in the saas world and am considering a revenue reporting manager position at a tech company.
I haven’t worked in revenue before and am not super familiar with 606 so I don’t know if I would flop but I’m a CPA with 8+ yes experience (mix of PA/corporate experience)
If I’m making 65k in my first year of audit, should I jump ship now before I reach senior for a job as a “senior accountant” with 85-95k comp? Or should I wait until I reach senior associate and then jump to the same 90-100k range?
More than likely receiving an offer for a more technical position than I’d like in my career. In short, I think it pigeonholes me into a role I’m not comfortable with and have little interest for.
How do I politely reject the offer when it comes through?
To my fellow foreign professionals - have you ever changed employer within 180 days from I-140 approval? Are you able to retain your PD? Please suggest if there’s another bowl I should post this. Thx!

SAP is great if you have a good implementation team
SAP is the best ERP out there IMO, but can be quite complex.
SAP is horrendous. The reports, functionality are all terrible, even with our Accenture consultant to guide us. We switched to SAP from MS Dynamics and it really was a step backwards in every possible way.
I’m at a new company and we use NetSuite. I am finding it is vastly superior to the others in my opinion.
