I took 2 weeks because that’s all I could with my litigation schedule. This was in 2023. I got some alternative treatments this was after 20 years of meds and 8 years of therapy. Now I just want out and am trying to figure out how. I live in a constant state of either rage, grief, or sadness. I’ve been in 20 years of litigation and the practice has changed so much. No one is kind or respectful or even puts their clients first, just themselves and I cannot do this for another 20 years. Also I was written up for taking mental health leave so be very careful how you approach it and you may want to look into FMLA. Then when I had to leave for a physical issue also for 2 weeks it was perfectly fine. Our society still doesn’t see mental heath as a real illness.
I am so sorry to hear this. Please do consider FMLA/ADA leave and explore finding a better work culture. You might also consider consulting with a plaintiff side employment lawyer about being written up for mental health leave. Law firms won’t follow the law unless we make them follow the law.
