also - when you’ve been doing this long enough, you don’t need to bring in a ton of candidates - you know what’s out there and if you see a candidate you like, you know where the bar is because you’ve done this before.
Small shops are nimble. That’s what’s so great about them!
Wow. They have no chill.
smaller agencies don’t screw around. they don’t have the time or staff to do it. they also have less red tape and don’t need 10 levels of approval to order lunch.
Thirsty AF, ask for more money no matter what the offer.
@MS1 Digitas could never, ever make a decision that fast. Trust me.
Not at all a red flag. If I like you, going to let you know in the interview and try to get an offer submitted same day.
People complain about bureaucracy or about having to compete against a vast pool of candidates and wait for weeks to hear back. But now that you get someone to who wants you, they're shady or desperate. Or, maybe, just maybe you're ungrateful for the opportunity being thrown your way. People look for jobs for months
I had a similar thing happen with my first job out of college. It just turned out the agency was in a pinch
Good candidates don’t sit on the market for long. Hiring managers know this and will jump on a good candidate right away.
Aside from the rapid fire on their end, does the opportunity excite you? (Creative, your new team, client relationship with agency, salary) Could simply be wanting to make a hiring decision to wrap up before year-end.
They sound desperate. In the dating game, have you ever had people keep hitting you up immediately and they seem weird, you give them a try and sure enough they're weird? It's the same thing with this. They're gonna be weird
I think the better question is how YOU felt about them. If it was a great chemistry and this is a dream come true...great. But if you’re genuinely surprised how quickly they’re offering without getting to know you...run.
I don’t think it’s a red flag. But depends if you’re a Creative, AE, Planner, etc. Def ask around. If you know someone there, pick their brain. You should do this anyway. But the fact that they liked you enough to make you an offer that quickly is never a bad thing.
I've had that happen twice and both jobs were fine. They just needed help right away cause the hiring process had already taken a lot of time (I happened to apply towards the end) and somebody had just left and they needed to fill the role. There are plenty of normal reasons to want somebody to start right away. You're also still free to say you new two weeks to wrap up your old work or whatever.
@AD OP Hmm, recently had a similar situation in another area. To AE1's point, it could be a end of year thing, agencies do that.
Maybe ask if you can freelance to try “each other” our first.
OP your post sort of sounds like a song lyric
diGo?
Good candidates can stay on the market forever if they want to, it’s their choice. The agency has to match their standards. OP remember that!
