Did we stop offering orientation for tax fellows?
If you’ve already booked it and blocked off the time, and didn’t talk to the people you work with because you’re new or have never worked with them, it’s 100% reasonable to take your vacation regardless of the fact that you booked it for September or October. Assuming it’s not a 10 person firm someone else can do the work.
It isn’t at all reasonable to be able to expect to take big discretionary vacations during the middle of your busy season. If you do have something booked for your busy season and you didn’t know what you were doing when you booked it, talk to your managers / partners ASAP
Outside of that rule you should be fine though, the firm is pretty good about respecting vacations.
@EY 3. What’s considered “my busy season?” When I booked the vacation, I had asked my main client and they said it was ok bc they didn’t expect to be busy at that time. I honestly had no clue there was a second busy season. But then my scheduler booked me for 55 hours on either side of my week off on another client, but I had no clue that I would be messing them over when I booked my vacation
Did you talk to your manager/counselor? Usually it’s okay but if it’s in the middle of busy season your team might be a little pissed if you didn’t tell them.
Screw second busy season.live your life. Yolo
Well then it sounds like a management issue in where no one put it on the official schedule.
Yes, someone can push back, you can also tell them to go screw themselves
Perhaps. What do u mean?
Also can I ask honestly, what is it that keeps people from quitting big 4? I want to know why ppl work in big 4
Why did you ask your client? Don’t you have managers and up that you work with who approve vacation?
I didn’t ask the client. I asked my senior manager on my main client. But then I was scheduled on another engagement around my vacation a few months later
