Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Out of curiosity, what do recruiters these days tell college kids about how many hours people work in public accounting? Five years ago I felt like I only worked 7 days a week a little more than half the year. In the last 1.5 years, getting a day off on the weekend doesn’t happen too often.
Recruiters and partners are promising wlb and boundaries are able to be placed. I have yet to see it happen. To make matters worse, I work with all men. My senior talks to me as if I’m stupid and it’s not a good feeling. I’ve tried to force myself into conversations, just to be ignored and receive the cold shoulder. I’m over it.
SEC reporting or GL accounting are typical exit jobs from audit
A1, How is the pay?
Forensic accounting..trust me it is way better
Only down sides is that you are not really gaining exposure to projects or clients that will allow you to exit naturally into a position in industry. Forensics isn’t really like M&A or cyber security where you know exactly what you can do after being in this field. A majority of people don’t leave though since after working in this field genera consulting/ industry seems boring.

Dm me. At a midsize rather than big 4; I can't say we work 30 hr weeks all year or have no 60 hr weeks, but we do respect boundaries and wlb. And it's not busy season year round. Multiple people on my team took weeks of vacation in a row in the past year, and I personally am a huge advocate for doing more efficient, smart work in fewer hours. I'm in fs assurance (nothing like EY FSO... which is scary.. And insane hours).
We def have openings since we are growing, and had some seniors leave for industry this year (who I am still in touch with! They're amazing)
I agree 1000%! I’m a little older and switched my career to accounting about a year ago but I would’ve found a different career had I known about the long hours early on. Spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family is non-negotiable. Those are times you do not get back!

Try AAS. I’m jumping from audit and getting a pretty big salary bump with the work sounding way more interesting
I moved from Audit to Acccounting advisory and got over $91k in the northEast (not NY) for S1. 27% increase.

SA=Senior Associate 2? For one month?
Where did you come from?
I would try to get into ARA, M&A, or Controllership, or accounting advisory at another B4
D1 - I was thinking this as well. I would rather go to another B4 or at least try to be placed on a new client and see how that turns out.
Switch to a mid-sized firm if you like audit. We don’t want to work out staff to death. I think hours at all B4 are going to be the same
