I keep hearing people recommend Solo by Choice but haven’t gotten to reading it yet. There’s a group in the *other* FB networking site called Lawyer on the Beach that has a lot of great advice from solos and small firm owners who want to have practices they can run while being literally on the beach (I have nothing to do with running that page. Just an admirer from afar).
From a practical standpoint, if you are in any type of volume practice, you should be able to standardize most of it and charge flat fees. Biggest benefit of flat fees is that you can ethically fully bill for handling 2+ cases on the same court calendar
