I’ve been working in public accounting (audit) for a year and I don’t enjoy the work and don’t see myself in this position for much longer. I’ve been thinking about going into marketing but stuck on how to get started. FDD manager here. How hard/realistic it is to break into corp dev with the financial due diligence skill sets?

I'm an investment banker and in late stages of a couple CorpDev roles of Fortune 200 companies. Both roles report to Head of CorpDev. I would be interested to understand the typical career progression. Assuming Head of CorpDev will stay in position for the next 5-10 years, what is the expectation of upward mobility then? Is it more common to progress through jumping around to different companies?

Interviewing for a Director role soon. Wondering how the questions will be? The last time I interviewed was for a Specialist position and the questions were the typical “tell me about a time when xyz happened and how did you handle it?” But maybe these questions are to elementary for Director level? Does anyone have insight on how to successfully run a reverse mentorship program?

I’ve spent 4 years in Big 4, with about half that time in FDD. I feel like Corp Dev is what I ultimately want, but am wondering if a stint in banking could be worth it. If I’m not interested in PE or other buyside alternatives, is the pit stop in IB worth it?
Mainly wonder if IB is a must have box to check, or if you can work your way up the ladder without.
