BCGers who come in out of undergrad: if you direct promote from associate to consultant how long does it take to go from a C to PL. does it still take 2 years despite c and a being the same role?

Expecting an offer this week or early next week, but want to know when you start negotiating the salary? When you receive the call from the company or wait until receiving the formal offer letter? And how should the negotiation start? Through phone calls or emails? Didn’t use recruiter for this position, so I don’t know what is the process here.
