BDO folks - how much do you work on average during busy season? I had a recruiter from BDO call me and say it’s 55 on average this time of year. Then went into how they know well in advance before someone’s going to burn out and make sure they take time off so they don’t burn out. Sounds like a sales pitch to me, but overall super curious.

Not average but minimum 55, so you could be doing upwards of 70. I came from BDO.

like

She said no one ever works 80s. I’m here like ok that’s fake news.

funny

Let me know what bdo office is this.
If you are working 55 hrs in bdo right now, you are about to get in trouble.

likesmart

Lmao what are y’all working then?

Maybe if you are on a flex schedule.

like

I worked at BDO and it wasn’t much over 55 but that varies by location and business line.

like

*55 on average this time of year
Idk why I laughed so hard at this

None of the big 10 pa firms will have average of 55 hours during busy season unless you go to a small regional firm but what do I know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they meant laughing at 55 hours worked. In my experience you’re doing pretty good to be at an 80/20 billable/admin ratio. 55 billable would be ~65 working hours

The biggest lie of public busy season is that 55 hours means 55 hours

55- 60 total hours per week at BDO is about right during busy season for a manager, less for an associate or senior. The hours per week could fluctuate with client deadlines, and you could have a 65 hour week followed by a 45 hour week. When you interview with the office leadership, they should be able to give you precise insight into what the hours look like in their office during busy season.

Hey Fishes,

Can anyone share their experiences after leaving consulting at Engagement manager / Project leader / CTL level and joining biz ops team in big tech?

Any insights on if and how the team dynamics, expectations etc change?

What is bad and what is good (probably WLB)?

I am moving to a team full of smart people (based on education and pedigree) but no one with consulting experience (which I think is a good thing?)
