Been in tax w/ a little AP/Payroll (PA mid size firm) for 6 years, about to go 7 if I stick it out for another season... Honestly though I'm tired of this. Not sure where to turn for industry though. I'm an extrovert but I'm not of fan of talking with clients anymore since I'm tired of asking for the same thing over & over again. Any suggestions or ideas? I'm going to start studying for my CPA, and dream goal is forensic accounting, but I'm not seeing that as foreseeable anytime soon.

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

Why companies don’t even consider candidates with OPT? :( I feel they really don’t even look at my candidate profile when they read I will require sponsorship in the future.
As a data analyst I have a STEM OPT that allows me to work here in the US for up to 3 years (a lot of time to prove myself or even pivot my career and change of company for them not to worry about sponsoring me) but still I feel they don’t care. MOST companies, I should say.

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.
