Since we are mentioning subreddits, I'll through out r/personalfinance. They have a "prime directive" flow chart for how to handle money that I've found valuable and easy to understand for beginners. I wouldn't consider myself a beginner but I still refer to it occasionally and share it with people who are interested in bettering their financial situation. It doesn't talk about specific stocks or anything like that, but does give good advice on where to allocate money. A good idea is to work your way through the flow chart and get to the end. When you get to the last few options (non tax advantaged accounts/big purchases), then you are probably at a point where additional investment knowledge would be useful.

Dave Ramsey has a great method for getting people out of debt but overall less efficient philosophies on investment and other things.
Would absolutely recommend him to people struggling to get out of debt though.
