Does Natwest bank pay as competitive as Morgan Stanley Deutsche Bank. I mean Associate in MS and DB ranges from 20 to 30 lakh. However when I tried applying to Natwest expecting 40% hike (30 lpa) on current pay of 21 lakh. They straightway rejected me and said its not in their budget. Is there any financial firm which can pay as competitive to Mumbai banks. Barclays Deutsche Bank Natwest group BlackRock

Tactic 1. Negotiate, don't just say yes to the first offer.
Tactic 3: When they extend the offer, say something like: "Thank you, I really appreciate the confidence in my abilities that this offer demonstrates. As you know, there are a few other things I've been exploring in parallel, so I would like a few days to think about things and get back to you, if that's ok?"
Sex. Pepsi.
Think of a number that sounds like you think it's slightly to high, then add 5k. Literally every single job I've given them a number that was 5-10 k higher than I thought I could get, and they've always given it to me, meaning that I could have gone higher and possibly gotten that as well. Generally, men ask for more because they think they deserve it no matter how high, while women ask for less out of fear of being seen as too aggressive, and we end up losing money over it, which only gets worse over the course of our careers. If you know a guy in the same type of position that you're applying for, ask him what he'd ask for, and make sure you ask for at least that much.
^ I think we all know assless chaps is interview protocol
Don't them what you make now. Don't give a range ($115-$125 results in them taking your lower number). If all else fails get more PTO.
Tactic 2: Do your research on salary benchmarks for the specific role in the industry and at the company
Aim higher than you want by about 5-10k. Negotiate to the middle. They think they've won and saved money but you just got a raise. 💸
Tactic 4: grow some massive lady balls. 💁🏼
CD1 would say, short skirts and high heels never hurt a negotiation either
For the record, none of these are invalid for later in your career as well, nor exclusive to women. These are just good rules to follow as a candidate regardless.
Yes to @publicis. At my last (first big girl) job, I screwed myself by both telling them my old salary and taking their first offer. It screwed me by setting my starting point for three years. This time around I asked for 20K higher (still proper market value) than what I would have honestly settled for. I got 15K above my goal. Do it, dude.
If you're in NYC, that's now illegal for them to ask. You say back that actually you'd love to discuss the pay rate for this current position and how it aligns with the local market and your specific experience/skills. Never had anyone push further, but if they do, say you're not comfortable sharing as it's confidential information about your finances and you're not sure how it's related to the current position in discussion. If filling out form online, leave blank. If mandatory field, I write N/A. If it requires numbers, I write 0.
@OP ...call me if you want more; not giving away any more 😎
how can you avoid telling them your current salary if they ask?
AD, nah.
