Woman (and mom) here and think it is acceptable given the disruptions of daily life present in calls all the time now. Maybe “unprofessional” but so is your kid running around in the background interrupting you and I don’t think people would be so quick to say turn the camera off. I’ve done a few calls on video with my toddler sitting in my lap and would do the same if I were breastfeeding right now.
As a woman, I think it’s unprofessional with the camera on—just as I would find it unprofessional if a colleague were eating on camera during a call. If you need to feed your child or eat during a call, turn the damn camera off.
Female here, but that’s a big no. Would a woman seriously sit in the middle of an in-person meeting in a conference room and breastfeed their baby? It’s unprofessional. Just turn the camera off
Exactly just turn the camera off. If anyone asks she could tell them she was breast feeding.
Flipping the camera off could have made everyone more comfortable. BUT you don’t get to control when the baby is hungry And it’s better and less disruptive than a screaming hungry baby And there could’ve been a bit of flexibility on the team’s part to allow her to say ‘let’s start the meeting in 20 minutes I need to take care of my kid’.
I think it’s whatever, but personally I’d shut my camera off
I have no issue with breast feeding. I also don't really want to watch to happen. I wonder what the solution is to this probkem?
Absolutely not.
Turn the webcam off. Super unprofessional but I’m down for the show personally
Go girl! Do you!

Just turn off the camera damn.....
Why be on camera?
Why not be on camera?
I think Nay: it would definitely be bewildering if you started breastfeeding on the call
I think that would be crossing a line
I personally would turn off the camera or tilt up my screen but I applaud a mama who is ballsy enough to go for it. I’ve seen tons of people shoveling lunch into their faces on zoom calls and that’s way more disgusting than a mother discreetly feeding her baby.
Nay, I’d turn off the camera. That’s an intimate moment between a baby and its mom. I can still listen and get shit done without public display.
I mean I wanna say do it after the call but I don’t know if she had to do it right at that moment. I mean if we were at the office, there are nursing rooms for that reason of not being around others when it happens. It’s not the end of the world tho. I wouldn’t wanna be the one who goes to HR and puts in a complaint against the breast feeding mother.
Think of camera-off like the mute button, is the expectation I set with my team. If something is going to disrupt the meeting, you would use the mute button, you can turn the camera off. Even if you have the calmest baby, there are still full-grown adults who can't handle it unfortunately.
I say nay. I would never have done this in person so similarly awkward via video. Fully support breastfeeding in public btw. But not work like this.

If you wouldn’t change a nappy on camera in the middle of a work meeting, you also wouldn’t do other homely chores like feeding your kids. Turn the camera off and keep talking.
Turn Off Video. Very simple.

Men can’t suggest it, but use common sense, turn the camera off
