I came over from Deloitte and am glad I made the switch. Got a nice bump and much better WLB. Like with anywhere, much of your experience will depend on your team. Don’t let others scare you away. If you don’t like it, just boomerang back for a second salary bump.

What are the utilization requirements?

like

Benefits are nothing special, but as others say the culture and WLB is team dependent.

In my time I’ve seen managers and directors actively fight to keep their teams staffed at 40 hours / week for billable work when someone tried to pile on more. Nearly everyone I’ve worked with has been smart and easy to get along with. My manager genuinely seems like they want me to be happy with my projects to stay long term.

like

That sounds great! What group are you with, out of curiosity? Heard anything about the life sciences group?

Run as fast as you can.

GH is owned by veritas capital, their entire market play is to gain revenue with no profits and sell. GH will be a consulting arm of a SI within 3 years.

like

That is possible, but we have a huge portfolio of internal control/audit readiness/A123 support that doesn't fit. I've always thought IBM would be a potential buyer.

What sector would you be joining?

Life science is great!

Honestly, its not a bad firm, and I enjoyed my projects, wlb, and teams. Totally possible to negotiate great pay coming in. The Centers of Excellence and firm RD are not as great as Deloitte’s but apart from that, its the same bread butter consulting. You already have the Deloitte brand so if you can come in at a higher title and pay, I think thats a fine move.

I do think you’ll get better/more specific answers if you specify what part of the firm you’d be joining.

No equity at Guidehouse. Factor that in your decision making process.

I left my last job because I didn't appreciate the culture (B4). However, it was probably because I was a terrible employee. However, I do find that my clients love me 10x more than my consulting colleagues. I joined a smaller firm to cover up the problem.

I am expecting an offer from Master Card for Senior Software Engineer position in O Fallon MO. Please let me know what kind of base salary I can expect with 11 yrs experience . I don’t wanna undersell but also trying to avoid being aggressive but quote a decent number which will be achievable. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Is 125k $ base a fair value for or I can pitch higher? They have a 15 to 20 % bonus on top of base pay and a 10% match on 401k which the recruiter keep highlighting.

Hello Fishes,

So far I received offers from PwC India, Capgemini and Lexmark for Data Engineering.

More are in pipeline from KPMG GS, TechM, Accenture.

But one peculiar thing is happening. I have appeared for 4 Cognizant interviews but in all I have been rejected. Whereas most of my friends had easily cleared Cognizant. I am switching tech, so I am a bit concerned like whether my knowledge is too shallow😐

Is it sign of an Imposter Syndrome 🥺

Pls help🙏🏾

So today was my first day on a stimulant (diagnosed as an adult), and everyone says its suppose to feel like *boom* magic, or normal (?) , I guess. Knowing that is figurative, what should I actually be expecting? I feel mostly the same, I think, though I came in and actually did started my work today. But I mean, somedays I do that...I just don't want to psyche myself out if I'm expecting too much. Or pscyhe myself in if I actually might not be experiencing what I should.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
